The Official Type R Thread

omh load does not affect the sound whatsoever... the ohm load ONLY affects how the sub can be wired... sound is the same at whatever ohm load
I heard that the lower speaker impedance - harder for an amp to control spekers cone movement, as the result worst SQ.

You heard wrong. Ohm load can affect the amplifier when wired below its stable rating but not the woofer. The driver can take whatever you throw at it...but with moderation of course. Otherwise the main benefit to having DVC rather than SVC is the wiring opportunities.

ok im thinking of getting two 12" type r's (4 ohm) wired to meet an 1 ohm load would this amp be enough to power them?

Hifonics BXi 1206D

or would i need to get a bigger amp??

thanks to whoever can help

can some one give me plans or a place to buy a box, for 2 12" type-R's. I dont really know were to go, a place that has good enclosures that like you said could hit around 140 db's. Thanks for the help.

people who dont know anything really need to SHUT THE **** UP and quit spreading stupid *** incorrect info. it sounds like it was pulled outta someones ***. And no, AZsound, im not talkin about you, im talkin about who ever told you that, so take no offense please.

Probably, you are right. But what do you know about decrement factor. This factor has a straight relationship with speaker impedance. Higher impedance, higher decrement factor = easer for an amp to control speaker cone movement, so we get a higher SQ. It's not so sensitive on bass, but on mids ang high it's more than actual //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

So Im at the Car Stereo place today, and the "installer" there tells me that not only is my amp (Alpine MRD-1001) a piece of crap and one of the biggest pieces of junk made, but also that my Alpine Type R's are only good for sound quality and **** *** at producing powerfull thumping bass. Could have fooled me, does this guy know something I dont? Or is someone trying to sell me their house brand stuff (seeing as how they sell no Alpine anything) hmmmmm. Can someone set me straight here?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

^^^ alpine amps are incredible and Type R's are one of the most renowned(sp?) subsfor a reason.

Also, I REALLY need help with box plans for a single 2005 12inch type R. If ANYONE could help me with a good ported box design that would play rock and heavy metal well, please PLEASE help me out. I can build the box fine, i just need the plans. From whats I've gathered the past 2 days, a lower tuning will play metal better, so I guess something around 34hz would be good. Please, someone help me out. Thanks!

Dude I can just tell you how is and it sounds good with all music( i think) I have it in a 2.2 cu. ft. slot ported box tuned@37hz . Ihad it tuned @33hz before and it made rock songs sound hella good but lacked on rap and hip hop.The volume of the box after the displacement of the sub and port material is around 2.05cu ft.,you need that exact figure to determine the port area for tuning. you should be able to design it what ever shape for your needs by using some helpful calculators on carstereo.com. ther in ther how to section. hope this helps

I have just finished my box for 3 12" Subs for the back seat area of my ext cab truck. I have one Dual 4 Ohm Type R and a PA3000DB which does 2000RMS. I had planned on getting two more Type R's for 250 shipped but I dont know if I should look for different subs because of the tuning my box came out at

SO Will 3 12" 05 Type-R's sound decent in 2.6@37hz each? I have 2000RMS for power.

If not, what would be a better option for my box L5's? They might like 2.6 and 37 better...?

This should be fine with the Type-R's. Ive seen them in a 3ft enclosure and they perform well as long as your pushing at least 800 to each and it looks like you will be so it should freakin wang dude. That is a good price for them to , I get a discount at bestbuy and get them for 106 out the door and thats the cheapest Ive seen and your doing good 2 for 250. GETT'UM
