The Official Type R Thread

How many watts would you run to an 12" 04 type r?
And then how many to a 12" 05 type r?

Both daily drivers....
Give 100 rms to the 04' version and then strap some amps together to pour on the power to the 05' version. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

well my box is gone be close to this

Sealed

Sub will be firing up so itll be as wide as the sub or however much i need

L=30" or as wide as my backseat in a reg cab truck

H= 20" or however much i have shouldnt be less than 20

Is that gonna be 1.5 cubes or w/e cause i dont understand all that

Ok do you think itll blow if i play it loud alot....as long as i keep the gains down.
doesnt matter where teh gains are... the amp will put out what it puts out.

if you can't use all of the amp, no point in having it.

THe sub will handle so long as you don't clip it... and so long as you dont just sit there with it cranked all day, everyday.

i dont know if it will handle the power sealed... tough to say.

You can definitely try, just be careful //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

No one is replying to my question in the Amp forum, so i will repost something similar here.

I went ahead and bought another Type-R locally last night, and today I picked up a nice DMM...

Going by the RMS rating of 750-800W or so for my amp as per Custel in this forum, I should be looking for a reading of 40v (800W) its a MRD-M1005 rated at 1000W RMS...

So anyways, I got the deck (Alpine, with the Sub Level @ +15 as recommended by many many Alpine deck owners)

I have the bass boost on 0.

Sub Sonic Filter at 30hz

Unplugged one speaker wire

Attached the DMM

Turned the deck to 26

Played a 45hz test tone

Adjusted the gain so that it read 39.something, cant remember exactly.

Plugged in the speaker wire, put in a music CD

and WOAH.

Its fricken loud, too loud, you can hear its totally straining the sub??

If I turn the sub volume down to like 8-10 it sounds loud, and great.

SO basically what I want to know is... will this guarantee me not to clip the signal? Cause I will never have the sub output to +15, cause its just too much for the sub.

Anyone?

Looks like I called this one correctly and OP hasn't been back to post any glowing reviews either.
