I am going to make a enclosure for a 15" Type R about 800 watts rms. I want a ported one and i need to know how many cubic ft to make it and what frequency to tune it. I am about 65spl/35sq, and i have plenty of room for an enclosure that will make it slam. any suggestions

the type R's that have hit 145db+, what were they they tuned to?

35-40hz seems to be generally a good tuning for a sub that will be used mainly for rap. but it all depends on the application. as for the box size I wouldn't know.

40 should be okay if you dont mind dropping your low end a bit. I couldnt comment on the size though, but you might want to drop it a little bit if its going to be tuned to 40hz. My box is tuned to 48hz, its quite loud through most of the bass frequency range... but anything lower than about 40hz is out of the question. it plays them, but they just dont get loud at all.
