The new type R's?

And actually they have improved the 10's and 12's since they have 2.5" coils on them. The previous models were only 2".

I'm not trying to crush your dreams OP, but I think the Type R is overrated. I just didn't like the way they sounded. I tried 2 different boxes, and still didn't like them. From my experience they needed 2.5 cubes a piece and had to be tuned to 32hz to sound right. Others will disagree but that's my 2 cents.

They aren't supposed to sound good. But they get loud.

Okay I dont know what dreams you are talking about but I have two of the old type R's and they are LOUD, CLEAN, CHEAP and DURABLE as shit Much better than any kickers ive heard or any other subwoofer in the price range. They hit very clean. I have had multiple enclosures as well.

I am waiting for my fi btl but these in the mean time to me are some of the highest quality woofers for the price (I paid 1/4th less then the BTL cost per sub)

Dummy, why call me an idiot. You're the one getting all emotional about the Type R. I guarantee I've heard more Type R installs than you. It's cool if you ******** to Type R's every night. You just like a different sound, and I can respect that. I ran 4 R's ported and I know it was doing 150, but so what. I wonder why what you call a crappy install could do a 150? Btw, they don't sound better than Cvx's. I never said it was a bad sub, but you flew off the handle and lost your ****** mind. You had your mind set on getting some before you posted. I'll be checking the new ones out also, but I know they'll never punch me in the back like a HDC3. Once you get use to that, it's hard to settle for an R. Don't stress man, it's just opinions. Some people think Chrysler 300's look just as a BMW 745i.

745i's? big piles of crap. Seats that never work, the idrive system that stinks, "leather" that is just of the worst quality, navigation units that fail always, i could go on, but the BMW 745i is just "crap". It does have a nice look to it however, but everything else stinks.

Type-R's don't sound THAT good...Maybe if you're talking SPL, but they don't sound better than most of the subwoofers made by non-mainstream companies like Sundown, DC, IA, AQ, etc.. that compete in the Type-R category.

Odd, from alpines website it says the new voice coil means power handling is improved, but right below the pic cea still says 500 rms/ 1500 peak. so wtf?

oh and how come they didnt re-design the 15 type r just the 10 and 12" model?

I would have hoped to see a fatter coil on the 15

They haven't updated the site. Also, the 15" already has a 3" coil. They may still be throwing some plans around for a new 15..who knows tho

Incorrect. The current type-r 15" has only a 2.5" coil.

Oh..well I saw a thread on CACO that shows a 3" DD 9500 series coil fitting perfectly in a blown 15" Type-R gap. I still could be wrong tho. Pics are in this thread...

I could be mistaken, but that looks like a first generation type-r motor which could have had a 3" coil.

Ya after reading the thread again, I believe it's an older gen Type-R ('03-'04). The current one may still have a 2.5", but that doesn't make sense that they would kind of take a step back in design...you never know though.
