The new type r's... they have been out for 2 weeks, does anyone know anything about them? Apparently they are 600rms now?

Looks like the mounting depth is a little shallower...? That was the one thing holding me back from grabbing some last models to try out...

Yeah, I knew they had both, but the new "regular" Type R looks to not be as deep. It may just be an optical illusion, but it does seem that way.

I'm not trying to crush your dreams OP, but I think the Type R is overrated. I just didn't like the way they sounded. I tried 2 different boxes, and still didn't like them. From my experience they needed 2.5 cubes a piece and had to be tuned to 32hz to sound right. Others will disagree but that's my 2 cents.

Kinda agree but not so much, for what i paid for 2 BNIB Type R 12's i thought they were great. I had em in a 4.02 box tuned to 32hz they loved it. Ran around 700 to em each never had problems just i want more bass now haha

Ya I'm not much of a fan of them either...I had two 12"s. They're a great bang for your buck sub and will take a beating no doubt..I'm sure the new ones will not disappoint. I doubt Alpine would come out with something thats not better than the last model.

You never know. There was a time when the newer Alpine heads were stripped compared to the older models.
