The Great 15" Challenge

I think your gonna do just fine... not everyone has a box built to spec... this is just a roundabout test...
If a sub beats another by 5 dbs... A minor .5 cf of box space isnt gonna gain it.
its really just to get a good idea, like your saying.

My testing wont be perfect but I will do the best I can to bring out the potential in all the subs and show what they can all really do in the same scenarios.

nicely said
The way I see it is.... not everyone can afford a custom box built to spec and tuned right and blah blah...

So the 40% of people who buy the sub will most likely run down to their nearest audio store and buy a prefab... which are usually tuned in the 40's and yadda yadda...

So throw these subs in good boxes and be on your way. give them there RMS and then with more power burp them conservatively. The numbers may not be where they should be.... but neither are the setups....

As long as the control is constant.... the testing answers should be relatively close to their optimal perfromance

right now I have 6 boxes in the works. Im testing about 20 subs roughly. I cant afford 20 boxes sorryI figure if I put each sub in all 6 boxes. and just take the best box scores for each that would work fine.
Why not build one big box made for aero ports and another big sealed box. Then just use Styrofoam to get the correct airspace for each sub, and adjust ports/length as needed. You'd only need 2 boxes, some aero ports and a sheet of Styrofoam.

IMO randomly taking up space could/would hurt airflow and potentially skew the results...

It may sound like im bashing but Im not. I think its cool you are doing it. With that said.....

I know most of the company owners, im a good person with a huge repuation here, im not out to get anything from anyone. Ive done business with over 100 members, think thats enough to let me borrow a few subs, specially cause Ive tested several subs before
this paragraph describes Loyd. Do you remember that fiasco?

Im not Loyd. I have personally worked and dealed with most of the companies they have my personal info and if they really need I can give them my credit card number so if something doesnt get returned they can just take that amount out.

Im simply trying to run a test but I feel like the reason this doesnt happen more is because of all the small problems everyone has with the tests.

Im trying to put numbers up for people who want to know a simple answer of what performs better in which variables. If companies want to participate they are more then welcome, if not I understand.

I'd say what happened was far from a fiasco, out of $10,000 of drivers that were sent, only 1 person had an issue getting there drivers back. and they were damaged drivers to begin with.

Obviously there will be variables I can not control but I am trying to make this as even as possible, companies who give me permission will have there subs tested with more power for peak power handling, i have about 20kwmrs on tap for burps. Steve all ready gave me the thumbs up to use it if need be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifCascade will see a good amount as well

But all initial tests will be done with the same amount of power, so I can keep it as close as possible.
You have my permission to give me my V.2 back in 1 piece. And DEFINITELY don't go blowing my SWN-1
