nah but seriously i know what they can and cant take I will be nice

doesnt sound like a fiasco to me at all, thanks as I was not aware of that.
Yea, this is why i would not recommend doing it. There is a huge thread on here calling both me and Loyd scammers because of it.

#1 Somebody sent 4 drivers, 1 had a broken basket, 1 was a blown AB sub that had a recone with it ( that didnt even fit ) 1 was a Quad Coil SPL-X sound stream that had 2 blown coils, and I forget the other.

They were useless for us to test, and were put in storage during the test. All corporate drivers were shipped on corporate account or picked up by representatives of the companies themselves.

They were supposed to be shipped back to a member here, but some things came up and they didnt get there broken, irrepairable drivers back for like 2 months, which I agree is a long time span, but when you look at it in context it was a very small detail.

Anyways I have defended myself and loyd countless times for this, and it ruined Loyds reputation for no real reason. We dedicated countless hours to this, and spent our own money to ship the drivers back.

All in all I think we spent nearly $500, and for what? To be told that our information is irrelevant and the results are skewed? And to be called scammers because we werent provided with shipping labels as promised and then had to pay money out of our pocket to ship back drivers that couldnt be tested anyway?

Sorry but no thanks.

That sucks man, i just feel like this is something I need to do though and I am taking my chances. Only used drivers I am using are from local members who will be doing the testing with me, everything else will be new from company. Its impossible to avoid something like that from happening again but I am going to try to.

Have fun, we had a blast during the test, and thought we gathered alot of interesting data. I learned alot about subwoofer design, and got to talk to some very cool people in the industry, including lucas from audiojunkies.

I wish you the best

Why not do your best to find everyone who owns one of these subs that is compitent enough to build 3-5 different enclosures, have them do a log, and post their results?

You aren't going to get anything conclusive doing it like this at all.

That's why some companies don't want to give you their sub, because if it underperforms people are going to link to your results to say "see look that sub sucks". When in reality if you are TRULY testing a subs SPL there is a good chance you will break it. How many people are going to volunteer their subs to be broken? I mean, it happens in comps all the time right?

Been there, Done that. Will have nothing to do with any of it.

RE-XXX - Am I scared? Not in the least, I already know what will happen. There is no real rhyme or reason to get into the internet e-penis measurement contest. Contrary to what you may believe, Nothing is going to be leaps and bounds better than anything else as nothing has really changed in the past 5-6 years of development of a speaker. People say the results were swayed and biased towards things and by no means were they swayed at all. If the thing was a turd we called it a turd. If it did well we gave it high remarks and reported all of the results accordingly exactly as they were found in the given scenario that was taken.

What happened was all of the thick headed individuals on the forums could not take it as the results of 'it is what it is' in this scenario. 90% will call BS because "That sub was louder then that sub" or "That sub sounded better then that sub".

What it boils down to is it is all a matter of a given scenario, at a given time, at a given place, because in Science you only change ONE variable at a time...otherwise your results are and will always be skewed.

Been there, done that, I vowed to my grave that I would have nothing to do with it especially after all of the shit that we went through to organize this event and it was appreciated none, in-fact it was ridiculed more than it was appreciated. Best of luck with your venture; I honestly do not think you are fathoming the amount of poop you are stepping into...you'll be eyeballs deep before you know it.

Edit: With that said, I officially and respectfully decline. The rumors and rib jabbing stops here. Best of luck with your endeavor.

Regards,

Truth. A bazzzillion factors go into why a sub fails. Some are easily identifiable (such as substrate delamination) which could be from poor adhesion for one driver out of 100 builds. That shouldn't mean a subwoofer sucks unless it happens to more than 1 out of 100 or it's a clear design flaw.

But you'll never know that untill you test 100 of the same driver.
