The Good & The Bad Eclipse cd5000?

i've told u about mine. i never had a cd skip on me. but i did have a ground issue. however i bypassed it with the wire wrap method and i get no noise. i love the unit to death. but there is better, however is it better than a cd5000 u betcha. better than a 7000 or 7100 idk... it close, id probably give the design to eclipse for a better 1. but both are great units.

ill be putting mine up soon like i told u. so if ur spending around 220 for the cd5000 mine might be a good option.

but between the 5100 and 5000 and 3000 id get the 5000 actually.

good:
-easy to use, beautiful unit, can quickly skip tracks by just rolling the selection button, time alignment, subwoofer control, ipod ready, hd radio ready (need the actual units, but it is "ready"), on board xovers, 7 band EQ, ESN is always a plus

bad:

-the same selectrion knob that is so quick to change tracks is also quick to skip 3 or 4 at a time when you hit a speed bump while trying to skip ahead 1 track, the xovers are really limited, time alignment is limited (ie, only has presets, no actual adjustments like say my old alpine 9831), need ipod adapter to actually use the ipod feature ($50 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif), face place doesnt automatically close after inserting disc (you have to press the open button to close it), doesnt have a removable face plate

nothing really "bad" about the unit, just a few querks here and there. i would not hesitate to buy one again.

Both are very nice units but i personally like the CD5000, i think it produces a better quality sound.

This is the first HU that I actually had to read the operators manual and it helped a bunch because it has allot of hidden features. Anyway its worth buying in my opinion.

i love my cd5000 except that selectron knob thing...the wheel selector is what i think its called...but yeah time alignment and whatnot are preset but they do make a difference...i enjoy it and got used to the wheel select thing and the 8v make a difference

ive used the prs, the cd 3000, and the whatever series deck was the earlier version of the cd5000. prs and the 5000 are much closer to comparable than the cd 3000. Out of all the eclipses and pioneers ive owned ive always been more than happy with my eclipse decks. Id say the 5000 get my vote for sure. The prs was a sweet *** deck, but i find the eclipses easier to use and bit mroe sexy.
