The big 3 just don't get it, nobody wants American cars.

Give me proof and ill beleive that...
There are wayyy more american cars still on the road just because there are more american cars period. Your talking out of your *** here dude. American cars FTW!

They need to be bailed out cuz if they dont our economy is toast. Talk about 3 million+ jobs gone like that. So STFU and go hump your little ricer. Im gonna stick with my built in the USA dodge cummins and drive right on over your little POS.
I am pro GM but if I don't think it will be 3 million lost jobs like that. They will find other employment eventually...or *******. Even if the big 3 do go BK, they will still operate.

maybe out in the country, but out here in New York City..there are WAY more older imports on the street than american cars..i see way more 86-95 accords, civics, camrys, galants, etc than i see town cars, intrepids, crown vics, impalas, etc

btw..why are you getting so personal? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Because I hate people like you:)

I cant stand people who like foreign cars and support them over the big three brands. But I will give them credit for the average consumer they probably are the smarter purchase. The only exception to this is the 2500 and up truck market. Like I said before none of the japs have even come close to touching the big 3 in that segment. Which is why I love trucks, Ill be riding American cars til the day I die...

yeah when it comes to trucks american wins

but when it comes to small cars(civics, corollas) midsize(camrys, accords, tls) luxury(rl,3 series,a4,5 series, etc) foreign wins..

We really need to just drop this shit that we're a capitalist society anymore.

The problem is, if this "Gimme" mentality permeates long enough, if any chance of failure or risk is removed from the marketplace, what motivation will anyone have to make smart investments? In business there are winners, and there are losers. Maybe I'm just callous, but I'd like to go into business for myself one day - is the take home message here that if you're small and mediocre, **** you, but if you're really huge and mediocre, you're a backbone of society and need to be saved? Yeah, that'll really motivate future entrepreneurs.

Depends on the application, Mercedes built some very capable off-road trucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's true. You are just one insignificant person. General Motors will immediately effect 1.5 million people's income and have a ripple effect from there. I see absolutely no gain from GM going under.

What do you think will change with the bailout? That is my question. If they don't sell enough cars, do we continue to bail them out?

They have just recently come close in the 1500 truck market.
Not really though. The tudra hasnt really done that well compared to the silverado and f150. I would buy a chevy 1500 ANYDAY over a new tundra. THe chevy is built better and is a better truck overall IMO.

That's where I was going with that. We could have GM operate as basically a state-funded organization, but is that really what we want to have happen? Yeah, those 1.5 million people may have jobs, but they would be working continually at a loss...that's a waste of labor on a massive scale that would be better served in other companies, potentially making a profit.

They can pay the UAW the money they agreed to, to take on their health care.
I see, but do you think that would be the end of it?

I'd support the bailout if I understood the solution. Such as, plant collapsed and can't make cars build us a new plant, we make cars and pay you back.

It seems that the big 3's problems can't and won't be solved by $25B. I guess I don't understand the issue well enough.

Great what companies are out there that need 1.5 million people? I'm in the job market.
