the 600rms woofer..

why not some 8's?
4 8s just doesnt seem well worth it. Those pioneers would do Alright, but still mehhh,

SAs would be loud, but everyone and their brother runs them.

Gcons would be new, but would run up 8 hundo for four. maybe 3 12s i have 2 1200rms amps stable down to 1, can strap. i could do 1.33 strapped, and shuld be okay...

also Lethal injections looks alright.
if he does 2 15s on 1200w, there are much better options than L7's. Hey nick (@Electrodynamic), weren't you building subs out of returned parts at one point? I dont remember if that was the deal but you had sick prices on that stuff!
I was re-building SA's at one point but I ran out of motors to use. On topic, the Obsidian 12's at $138 are a force to be reckoned with. The specs speak for themselves and the only woofer that edges them out in terms of all-out SPL is ~40% more money per woofer. And yes if the OP is going with 10's then the OA option is out.

(pssst, three 12's will work well like I said in my previous post - less money than four 10's and the enclosure volume will be there to tune in the very low 30's to get that solid extra low end)

well heres someone that knows their ish. nice. now althought there is bias present in choice, would OA 12s handle 800-900rms per fine?

and better in spl, by how much for 3 12s? 2-3dbs? or greater?

Sa 12 is what im assuming.

Did you not read this whole entire thread....not enough room for 12s, and Obsidian has to custom make 10s. Please just do us all a favor and run headfirst into a wall and try to make it so you dont walk away from it.
Then maybe they'll make him some custom 10s. For the right price, why not? Or like Electrodynamic said, he could always go with 3 12s.

I can not and will not say that the OA woofers will handle more than their rated power. They are warrantied for how much power they are rated at. However, a lot of our customers are sending them around the same amount of power you mentioned without any problems at all.

I don't understand what you're asking regarding three 12's, as three 12's may technically be a tad down on the meter (~1.5 dB down in a perfect world) compared to four 12's. However, as I've stated multiple times in this thread going with a smaller number of drivers (three 12's) and using the same size enclosure that you would have with four 12's you will be able to utilize more overall performance from three drivers in an adequate sized enclosure than you would trying to shoe-horn four 12's into that same sized enclosure because the four 12's won't be able to play as low as the three 12's due to the smaller enclosure volume seen by each woofer.

I wanted to do the exact same thing you are doing - I wanted to do four 12's ported. After I looked at how much room I had (8 ft^3 overall before woofer and port displacement) to use I decided to use three 12's. Now technically three 12's will be 1.5 dB louder than two 12's as three 12's vs two 12's is "only" a 50% increase in surface area. What I ended up with was a constant 148 dB from 26 Hz up to ~50 Hz at which point it went down a 145 at 70 Hz. It was a very broad bandwidth that ended up almost tearing the back of the car apart. If I kept it in there I was going to have to put the car on a lift and drill holes for all-thread rod up through the body/chassis to use nuts and washers to hold the box in place. The box was screwed to four parts of the floor already but it was still bouncing around back there when a track would play very low.

And yes I am biased. I stand by my product because I believe in it and know what it can do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

haha thanks, i'll probably go 3 12s, but my issue is impedance now.

My amps are strappable, and are capable of 1200rms at 1 ohm.

running three between them may be difficult.

and ill deffinately be keeping these in mind. id love to do a 150 outlaw, but we'll see, just want MOAR.

The first few Gcon installs will be showing up shortly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
cant wait, actually was going to pm you about em.

Check out our S2 line..set of 12s or 15s would be great.
we'll see

Cough Cough! ^^^^^
IK IK! but theyre not exactly spl ish orrientented. but ill keep them in mind too.

Opinion on Treo SSP? TREO Engineering | SSp Series Subwoofers can get four for around 600
