That noise......

I've done tons of stuff to our Tahoe, but the only thing electrcal is a headlight harness for high watt bulbe and all on high beams. I just can't imagine what it could be. If one amp works well at a ground point, shouldn't two amps work there as well? My system is great as long as the sub amp is not powered.....both amps i've tried. Can noise be induced somehow to power wires?

I'm just overwhelmed with this one. I checked my ground spots and they all read 0 on my Fluke. I tried both amps together in one spot, in seperate spots, and even tried a new spot. Also decided to run the HU directly from the battery and bypass the harness...no change. This is what I tried and results:

1.Sub amp not powered = no noise.

2. Both amps powered with all connections = lots of noise front speakers.

3. Both amps powered and RCA's from sub disconnected from HU = less noise front speakers.

4. Both amps powered and RCA's from front amp disconnected from HU = very slight noise front speakers.

5. Both amps powered and RCA's disconnected from sub amp = less noise front speakers.

6. Both amps powered and RCA's disconnected from front amp = no noise.

7. Both amps powered and RCA's disconnected from both sub and front amps = no noise.

8. Front amp not powered with all above connections = no noise.

So why no noise with either front amp not powered, or sub amp not powered, and only when RCA's disconnected from front amp with both powered? What else can I possibly look for? Again I ask....can power wires pick up noise somehow? Is there a bigger grounding issue than the spots for the amps? Thanks for much needed help before I loose it.

To add to this the system also has no noise if I run the rear and sub amp with The RCA's disconnected from the front amp with all amps powered. Someone PLEEAASE HELP!

I think you have exhausted this collective forum.

I'd suggest taking it to an actual audio shop, sending it off to the manufacturer for them to cover warranty (if it has one), or to become friends with an electrical guru real quick //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I can't remember whom the original OP was...but, on the Pioneer head unit he had to ground the rca's on the back of the HU...took a copper wire and wrapped it around all 4 rca connectors then slid on the rca's themselves to hold in place...I did something similiar to mine...helped with some of the noise. Just a suggestions... can't find the old thread yet... will keep looking.

Had this same issue. FYI Pioneer fixed this in the new series with an onboard fuse for the RCS Pre-outs.

Mine was not cured by this wire though.

I am now using an Alpine... This is my second HU as I suspected the Pioneer was the source of the noise. Playing with the gains will surpress the noise, but it's still there.
