All this talk about the constitution... You have the right to own guns, you don't have a right to own automatic weapons. There is no need for it. You cannot prove that having an automatic weapon is going to save anyone's life.

Do any of you guys who are saying that you agree with Obama know what an Assault Rifle is!? Assault rifle by definition is a weapon that can shot full auto. I have a AR-15 and AK-47 and hunt with both. Why am I going to all of a sudden be stripped from that.
And whoever the idiot was at the beginning of this thread said that, Who gave us the right to bear arms is an idiot. The Constitution does. And so you know people brought that up to the Supreme court saying it doesn't say it but the Supreme court found that indeed the Constitution does give us the right to bear arms only 30 years ago, so no it's not an OUTDATED PRACTICE. Learn your Constitution and everything thats been attached to it.

I doubt it, since you have enough money to own a computer and have an internet connection, and spend time on this forum. I'm not anti-guns, I just don't understand the point of having an assault weapon... First of all, you aren't going to carry it ON YOU FOR "PROTECTION." The only legit reason to own one I would agree with is solely for hunting purposes. I won't and don't need anything for protection and have never bought a weapon for protection. But I use to work in the slums so ya I know exactly how it is so don't talk down to me like I don't know what it is like!

I use it for hunting and it's one of my best rifles that I have. Never jams, etc.! Why should I not be able to carry it when I can kill someone with my AR just as easily w/ my Semi-Auto Rifle. You guys can't justify taking those kinds of guns away. Now it the only thing Obama wants to do is ban FULL AUTO weapons then I'm for it. Because if you need a full auto rifle your not using it for hunting. But those are already banned. He wants to ban anything that even looks like an assault rifle. It's stupid. Especially when NO ONE uses an assault rifle to kill someone. They use handguns as they are the easiest to walk around with concealed.

It's the constitution are you stupid? Thats what this United States is based off of? The Constitution does give us the right to bare arms and was brought before the Supreme court no less then 30 years ago stating that every citizen has the right to bare arms as thats what the constitution stated!

I think you are missing what they are banning. I agree 100% that AUTOMATIC weapons should be banned as there is no reason to have them. But just because my AR-15 LOOKS like a Automatic weapon they want to ban it. Thats what is going on. I hunt with a SEMI-AUTO AR-15 and AK-47. My AR-15 is great for small game etc.

But people with Fully Automatic weapons aren't using them for hunting, unless they are hunting people and I think they should have a ban on those guns. They are already illegal in all states, unless you can get a certain license for it.

This is also another horrible comparison as it doesn't state that in the constitution. There were laws passed but never added to the constitution.

I hunt. A lot actually. Never needed an Ar to hunt as I do just fine with my rifles and my shotgun.

I can also protect myself just fine without an ar.

And nukes are arms so how is that not valid if all you are defending by what the constitution says?
