Are you serious? There are plenty of AR's that are used in competition. There are also plenty of AR's that are used for hunting. There are plenty of AR's that are used for target shooting.

What can you use an ar for that I cant use a standard rifle for except killing mass amounts of people?

You will also note most gun serious gun advocates will advise against hunting with an ar. Ars are used for training and killing in warfare. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Actually quite the opposite. They happened and will happen again. Deal with it. If you need an assault rifle to defend yourself you probably shouldnt have a gun to begin with.
