testing amps?

how exactly can i do this easily? I dont need to install these in my truck, i just want to test that they power on and have output. Can i just run 4 gauge off the battery to the terminals and then somehow rig a remote turn on?

I don't KNOW if this will work, but try sending 12v to just the REM.

just loop a short wire from the amp's 12v+ terminal to the remote terminal.

and that wont damage it at all? I can just take a small 16 guage speaker wire and put it from the + on the amp into the remote?

Oh, and could i then take a home theater receiver and hook the RCAs from the output on the home stereo into the inputs on the amp and get output so i can test for sound? Or does it have to come from a car audio receiver? (i would think it would be ok, but just want to double check)
