i know how to test the voltage. and every thing is fine there. but should i be able to getting any ohms if i touch the pos and neg terminals on the amp? (not sure if i am using the correct terminology)

i would think no because if you did it would mean something internally is shorted.

right?

any comments woud be greatly appreciated.

any body have any tips on how to test this dang thing? i have tried to test the speaker out puts and with my meter set at 15 volts and its not showing anything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif ???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

any out put to the sub. just wondering if i can do that with a volt meter. i would think so just not sure since im not seeing any voltage coming from the amp at all.

it was working yesterday...

Does the sub work? forget testing resistance (ohms), there's nothing usable there for you.

Otherwise check HU volume, sub level volume, gains, source material, crossovers, etc.

Yea... I needs to be on A/C Voltage to read anything...

And if you test the ohms over the + and - on the amp you should get a ohm reading but it will be rather high (btw this is with the subwoofer disconnected). If you get a really low reading or a dead short then your amp has a problem....

As mentioned earlier, set the DMM to AC voltage. With your sub hooked to your amp, place the red lead on the + sub terminal, and the black lead to the - sub terminal. Play music at a moderate volume and you should see your DMM voltage read out jump up and down with the music. If it doesn't, there's something wrong.

uhhhh.... dont listen to him

Just follow the gain setting tutorial, dont play music. Use a test tone so u can set the gain right. Also make sure ur + on the sub terminal isn't connected to the speaker wire.

I think he was just speaking in the terms of a quick and easy test to see if he is getting any voltage output not to set the gains....

Don't listen to this! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You are assuming he is trying to set the gains. Everything he's said leads me to believe he's troubleshooting.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
