terrible sounding setup

hi all.

I have a classic Mercedes coupe that i have put a system in.

Sony mdx-C6500R series mini disc HU.

In the rear shelf i have 6" Phoenix Golds wired in mono. (no tweeters).

In the front i have Kicker ES 5.2 5" components.

Everything is run from a Jl 6450 6-channel amp.

I have tried using a 12" Kicker cvr ported in the boot which didnt sound good, so i have an 8" KR80 tube behind the seat instead.

I have been told the head unit 'aint all that' and as the car isnt a hatch the base wont be that special.

It seems a shame to leave it as it is sounding uninthralling after spending soooo long wiring it.

I also have 2 Alpine 90W amps and a JBL 12" in the shed not being used.

Could you advise me how to get this sounding better as im completely lost with it all!!

Many thanks

i wouldnt run the rear 6" mono unless you have a processor to allow you to have a lower and upper cut off frequecies and cut the upper off at 500hz or less.

use baffles for the rear speakers and deaden your doors or use baffles there also.

try using your jbl sub in a sealed enclosure if your looking for punchy bass.

also check and make sure you dont have any speakers ran out of phase, this will cause them all to sound like piss.

To me it sounds like you using what was cheap at the time. Maybe you were expect to much out of the equipment, but Alot of it depends more on your install. Try posting some pictures of everthing, maybe we can see visual defects.
