Taramps for real?

That's 100% efficiency, which these aren't. 300amp fusing would be ideal for these.

Music is dynamic, hence why it can pull only 153 amps on music. Basically, ignore this number

So would a 300 amp alt and XS D3100 be enough for the HD 8000? Not trying to steal the thread, but it has to do with Taramps and I am buying the alt tonight. Input would be appreciated

It is the only battery. Any other batteries would be farther away from my amp and alternator than the stock battery location. This would somewhat defeat the purpose of a second battery. Its hard to explain. My engine is behind the seats in my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif (the trunk where I put subs is in the front)

So I am probably going to pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks on an H.o alt and plan on going with singer. The biggest alt he makes for my car that fits and is direct swap is a 220 amp. Will this plus 2 or 300 amp hours in batts be good enough to run an HD 4k plus my ppi 800.4? I will only be running the HD 4k at about 3700 watts

yes more than enough. As always keep voltage above 12, below 15.5 and avoid clipping, the light on the amp does work. If your below 14.4 by the time you begin to clip, a light clip will be fine for daily. If you have great voltage and staying over 14.4 near full tilt, keep the clip light off.

These amps are very effecient if you keep them below clipping as in 90%+ effeciency, they sip current. They are also really tiny, can play fullrange if you need that for an install and very cheap.. Downsides, you can't push them too hard, so keep voltage between 12 and 15 and watch the clipping and you want to mount them to a solid surface, def NOT the subbox. Also the fans can be a hair noisy if you in a SUV, but nothing worse than most, just wish they only ran at high output intead of all the time, that's the price you pay for the size though.

I also agree with people who said get a little bigger than what you think you need.. You want to stay away from clipping and they are effecient. Better to get a little bigger amp and never have to clip it and even keep gains down.

Anyway I've ran one in my car for a few months and have read probably every thread on 3 or 4 major forums about em, any other questions I can probably help field it.

Yeah I plan on picking up a couple of hdc3's so I think the 4k will be plenty. I was originally thinking about the 3k but after everyone else to go ahead and get a little more power I will probably go with the 4k. I am going to get my h.o alt and the subs first but i want be getting the amp till around November December. Which amp are you running and how had your overall experience with it so far been?

I am using a hd5000. For me it's been a good amp I've had it in for 3 months or so now. Only went into protect once, sometimes my ECU overcharges, I was at 15.5v+. I reset the car and it was fine after that. They def put out good power, I've fried one speaker on it, they more or less do rated lol. I'm running my 2 ohm version at 4ohms, so 2.5-3k output and it sips electrical. A stock 150 amp alt can handle it with no upgrades as it sits, I get down to about 12.3 full tilt at idle, so driving I stay 13.5 or higher, often on the highways I wont' drop at all really. Mount them solidly, dont' clip the **** out of it and watch voltage and they are great amps.. I'm going to be working on changing out the fan here soon to get somethign quieter. You can hear it over music, but it bugs me when I'm not listining loud.

It seems like these amps are love hate. If they work people love them, if they don't... I was going to do the 6500 but it's to much of a risk for me, a few years ago I would have chanced it.

I was paranoid for the first month or so.. I've started to relax now. Had I not been on a budget when I finally decided to go "big" I wouldn't have got them. Well that and I wanted full range capable, only other option for me was 2 Zed Minotaurs and that's over 2x the price for only 1/2 the power.

A lot of the "hate" for them comes from people that ran them outside their parameters and those that have never ran them.
