whats the best way to take off deadener? its the tar backed stuff. i actually had some cheap like window sealer stuff from lowes. its foil on one side and that sticky peal off tar stuff on the other. should apply and take off like regular deadener. should i just take out a hair dryer and start trying to peal it off? or is there a remover chemical?

I'm going to be putting on some audio technics 80 mil and i want it to stick right. do i even need to take the old stuff off? and if so how?

thanks

heat gun, putty knife, water, muscles...thats what gets it off for me...oh..and nail polish remover for the sticky stuff left on
hair dryer will have to suffice, i have a putty knife, water i got lol, muscles- check //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ill have to pick up nail polish remover don't have that laying around the house. would goo be gone work just as well? i feel like nail polish remover would number one take off some paint on the metal, and 2 make me pass out when i do my rear deck lol

yeah goo gone would work too but most of where i have deadiner is bare metal and i like to make sure its clean when it comes off.

it'll stick fine?? cuz thats what id rather do if i could.
dude audo technix will stick to anything lol its some super sticky stuff.... I dont think you would have any issues. I dont see why it would stick to steel better then aluminum

And if you have 4 or 5ft left over, you should sell it to me lol my roof rattles like a crack head whos late for there fix

yeah AT is very sticky. wish alphadamp had the same stickyness. all 25 sq ft in my car was a biotch to stick in the cold

will do. I'm doing my roof, rear deck, front doors, and maybe just a little on the trunk. might skip the trunk tho. i already have 2 layers of the window stuff on that.and my box takes up the whole trunk anyways and my sub is firing forward. so if i cover everything 25 to 30 % i should shave some left over for ya.

Only thing I would be worried about it vertical surfaces. The added weight of the 80 mil may peel the old crap stuff off, creating a cluster to clean up and a waste of deadener. On floors or rear decks it would be ok, but doors would require removal of the old crap.
