tailgating system

hey, i want to put a system in the bed of my truck for tailgating. how can i do this so i can switch between my system in the car and the system in the bed? is there some kind of switch or anything? i am clueless. any help will be greatly apriciated.

ps: the system will consist of the following

2 amps

4 6.5 coaxials

Just put a cheap $60 headunit back there with the rest of the gear, and you're set. It'll be easier than having to keep running to the cab of the truck to change CDs, volume, etc.

If you did want to have two "seperate" systems, you could always use a relay and switch. Just make sure the relay you use is the one that has 5 prongs on it. You can wire it so when the switch is one position, one set of remote wires turn on, and when it's in another the other set turns on.

i think he wants something that is outside the truck...opening the doors and playing his regular system isnt loud enough

i know that, im saying he can still put the system in the bed, then wire it to the hu in the car, and control it with a remote, theres no reason to get two HUs to do a system like that

im still a little loss guys. i want two systems because opening the doors isnt loud enough. I already have focal comps, and JL w3's in the cab. is there a way to power a headunit in the bed of a truck?? how would I do this? can i just power one to play cds only and not worry about dealing with wiring the radio?

When I open my doors and play music its loud as hell, I think you need new components and more power to feed them. I have CDT Audio HD62's on 150rms and if the doors are open it sounds like I've got some DJ speakers going on.

if you are going to be engine off i would get some high capacity deep cycle batteries. in that case i WOULD do an isolator. something like a kinetik 2400 120+ aH(they have 3 batteries over 80 aH) or something close to that.

As somebody suggested, definitely get a few deep cycle batteries if you plan on playing the system with the engine off.

Anyway, there are quite a few ways to do what you want.

The simplest way would be to just wire up both systems to the head unit in the cab, assuming it has a remote for ease of use, and then wire up a way to switch between the two speaker sets.

You could also put an entire HU and everything in the back, just extend power wires to the bed and use a switch on a constant 12v for the remote.
