Hey guys

I have a Pioneer 6900UB, just a regular Pioneer deck.

I bought the Pioneer BTB-100 bluetooth unit for handsfree operation

It says that it should be hooked up to a power source that has constant power, regardless of what position the ACC is in... but not to use the head units power. It says that can overdraw the current on the wire.

It also came with a small 3M piece to easily splice the bluetooth power into any other 22-16 AWG cable. Basically I just snap it closed on a wire and its connected.

So my question is, is it OK to splice this bluetooth thing into the red 12v power cable of my head unit?

That red power cable always has power, right? Its the yellow ACC wire that turns on the deck, right?

Thanks in advance

yes and no.

if youre running no deck power (RCA preamps to all speaker amps) then the headunit probably isnt pulling NEAR the amperage the circuit was designed for. the extra 2 amps from the bluetooth box shouldnt make a diff.

but if you're running all your speakers off deck power, id suggest splicing something else like the Emergency light switch (constant power there as well)
