Hi guys,

I had my system for nearly 3 years now--everything has been fine. However, recently my battery died several times when sitting over night or for a while after work. I used my jumper to jump it off approximately 3-4 times. My battery has close to 800 CCA's, fairly new, and in good condition. My altenator-when checked at a local auto parts store was just at 13.48-- the guy told me any thing over 13.50 is good. My headlights and interior dim at idle and stop signs, and becomes brighter when I drive.

My system is now shutting off when I turn up the volume and reach a stop light. It comes back on when I drive. Finally, my brake and battery guage lights comes on very dimly at idle/stop lights, and cuts back off while I drive. WTF is going on??????

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

JL

Your electrical system is shot. Where you using a Capacitor at all? The alt is not charging the batt/running all of your accessories.. so my guess would be a bad alt or alot of bad connections somewhere.

Thanx for your response,

No unfortunately I didn't use anything....when I get my altenator replaced what kind of place should I take it to for my system? And what should I add?

ya i agree. Its most likely your alt. If it isnt your alt then its the belt that moves it but that sounds more like an alt problem. HO alt is extremely beneficial to your entire system tho. Anything that has to do with electrical runs off your alternator and its like the brain of the car. Bad brain and you got a bad everything.
