So I listened to you guys and did a couple things to improve my system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I got a better box for it. Designed especially for my Obsidian 15, it 3.1 cubes after displacment tuned at 32hz. As you can see, the port now is how big it should've been, giving the sub the air it needs! Thank you ssteele18 for the box design, I put it to good use.

Some of you also said that my speaker wire was on the smaller side. It was originally 16 gauge wire. And I didn't care for that, so I ordered some KnuKonceptz 12 gauge OFC free cooper speaker wire, and get that nice power flowing.

I got the box just yesterday, I've had it for 24 hours, with probably an hour playtime on it so far. And this is what I have learned so far.

Its noticeably louder but no major gains, most at 2-4 dB. The difference from my last box isn't amazing to be honest, I actually kind of miss the organic sound I had with my last box. This bass seems more boomy and rounder. I could hear the sub better because the port was as long as the mounting depth of the sub. Now with a much longer port bass definitely hits stronger, lows are better, and so are mids, but I miss the more organic sounding lows, now I here the sub hum more..

And whats even better is because I have a box that is an inch wider and 3 inches deeper, It makes a better and denser block in the trunk, and it absorbs rattle a lot more! I have lost almost halved my rattle with this box, so much infact that during regular sessions, I won't experience any rattle, which means I don't have to bother with some deadener. I'll only rattle when I'm tryna have a total bass fest.

But to be honest, it wasn't exactly the big difference I thought it would be. I payed $60 for the box, and I don't think it was exactly a HUGE difference that everybody said it would be. Its done, and honestly, I'm happy, but not exactly the difference I was expecting..

But hey, now I've easily got the loudest system in town. Hell my box builder was laughing once he saw how much air was moving when all the sawdust came out of the port. Honestly, for a budget system, I think this is it! I'm happy with what I have now, can't be happier.

Thank you once again Caraudio forum, you guys rock. Enjoy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bowdown.gif.b85b23b82970bd22fb6b549c3392f016.gif

Flip that box around, so it facing rearward. About 6-8 inches form the trunk lid/rear trunk wall. You'll get the gain you were expecting.

lol 2-4db difference not being a lot. Gaining that much is definitely considered a big gain on the same system. Seal it off for best results or just turn that bitch around like was previously stated.

Yes^^^Turn that box around in that trunk. And keep that seat down too..You will deff notice the Gain then..Only takes a couple min to turn it around facing the rear of the trunk

Nah, I think its plenty loud for my tastes! I don't want to turn it around and gain rattle that I just eliminated! I love my setup just the way it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif woot

seal it off, it will be louder, possibly sound better, and youll have even less rattles

Lol guys, I'm perfectly content with my system. Its a pure daily system on a budget.

My only complaint was that everybody exaggerated greatly the difference that the box would do. Hell, even I did too. The gain was good, but not significant like I would have liked. I liked my system before, I like my system better now, and that makes me happy!

I think I have the loudest system I have heard amongst many of my friends dual 10,s 12, and 15 setup, and I'm happy about that. I don't need to get even louder than that, especially when people look at me once they find out that a single 15 is outbumping their system.

If you are very happy with the results of the help you got from the guys on here this time, Why would you not take the advise now? Alot of these guys learned from trail and error. That box would be better sealed or turned around but it's your shiz so do what you wish but if you like how it sounds now you might be even more thrilled with the outcome of their advise.
