Ouch. Looks like 638 miles from me. May have to pass on this one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd like to do it, but now is a bad time for me to make a long trip. I'm a little strapped due to the holiday and the car needs as much time as I can dedicate to it at the moment. Let me know when your next show is and perhaps I can make that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I still think if you are looking at a rebuild I'd do a swap instead- you can make power with a single cam, but not as much as that extra cam is gonna give you. Why limit yourself? You obviously aren't doing that with the audio!

Jacob, we have some GA SPL events. both IASCA and dB Drag. Come down if you can.

dB Drag & IASCA

January 28

Audio Extremes

110 Business Circle

Thomasville, GA'

We also have one in Augusta in Febuary but I wont be there.

I'll also be at SBN, That's of course if I ever get an amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

and if kenny isnt at SBN he is a looser. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

There may also be another one in Fernendina in a couple months. Perhaps a 2x dB Drag. That is probably a 4 hour drive down I-95.

I might do a swap eventually, once I've maxed out my D15 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'll break down my plans:

Now --> Finish it off with exaust, injectors, ported TB and intake manifold, and greddy ignition sub harness... should make me ~150 - 175 WHP

1 Year --> Vitara Pistons, Eagle Rods, King Bearings, engine and transmission re-build, Intercooler setup... should make me ~200 - 225 WHP

If that doesn't satisfy me... I'll run it for a year or so and build up the parts for a swap setup. By this point building on the D15 would have taught me alot about engine building without risking an exensive engine (another plus).

2 Year --> B16A or B18C swap... and hand pieced turbo setup... I should be able to get ~300 WHP out of a B16A setup

I like the B16A... I've had one before in a CRX in high school. I just like the character of the motor, so that will probably be what I would go for.

Tiburon FTW. Underestimated.

173hp at the crank with a strong v6 platform and the motor running hog rich from the factory. That means they actually gain from intake and exaust.

On my friends we've done Intake, Exaust, Upper and Lower intake manifolds, throttle body, fule tune, motor mounts, anda new MAF and the G-tech says he is putting a good bit over 200 to the ground. THat's a $13,000 car with 7 years of warranty left in great condition add $2500 of parts if you do it yourself and you are waxing the average D-Series honda.

I still enjoy the sleeper econobox. But I think that the tiburon is a great beginer tuner car with a lot of potential. Hell a supercharger kit and a tune with stock ecause and injectors put over 300hp to the ground reliably. There is now a twin turbo kit for $7000 that will put 400 to the ground when you want it, 300 reliably.

Anyway, back on toppic

15's huh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I keep having an inner debate... maybe one 15" woofer since my electrical setup won't be adequate to beat on two 15s for extended periods. I'm down-sizing to one rear battery, so I think two 15s is overkill. Looking like one 15" Mag and 2x SAZ-1500Ds to have power on tap for when I swap in the Sundown SPL woofer at shows.

It's kind of just going to "grow" togther when I start the layout... if it looks like I can fit more, I will, if not it'll get one sub.

How many other cars that are reletively new can brake into the 13's for less than $20,000. Past an SRT-4 there isnt much.

He has ragged on the car for 3 years now and not a single problem. Have you owned a Tiburon? Driven one?

I'm not getting into one of your arguments in Jacob's thread. It was a statement of my opinion of a good begginer tuner car in a thread about someone starting a tuner/show car.

Yep, worked/drove quite a few of them actually.

After that wonderful warranty expires you have nothing but problems. All of the transmission sensors go bad in the automatic, water pump shits out, radiator hoses split, speed sensor goes bad, when the sensors go bad in the automatic transmission it clunks when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Thermostat stuck...not to mention what happens to one when it meets a truck with a frame underneath of it. It transform into this wonderful boomerang shape with a 30mph crash...quite lovely.

As far as ease of swaps and stuff and stuff that can easily be bought, Jake is definitely on the right track - 90's Honda's are the way to go. Infinite number of parts available that literally bolt on.

90's import cars is where the tuning and fun stuff is at, they can be had cheap and will out run the new stuff...rather easily, ~4500 dollars goes a long way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Any layout plans so far ? Obviously you want to showcase the amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif Plexi bottoms ? Flanking the sub on each side maybe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Maybe a little four channel plexi love in the back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was looking at a Jackson Racing Supercharger, would get me more power than a B16 swap for less money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'm talking to a guy about a used kit with blower, various pulleys, header, hondata, etc for a little over $1,000.
So yes, I totally agree that it will barely get out of it's own path when I'm done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
D series makes me sad.
