System Progress -- 56k watch out!

I was looking into venting the PCV vapors into the exaust system and bypassing any sort of catch can setup. I was reading into this on honda-tech and it seems to work great except it won't pass emissions, which my 94' model doesn't have to do so anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif What are you thoughts on that?
That's what i've always done on n/a cars that we added forced induction to.

Basically the stock PCV valve isn't boost referenced and it can't take the pressure...you don't want to vent it to your exhaust because that'l still cause it to smoke. Basically get the vented catch can and hook it up between the pcv line and where it goes back into the valve cover/intake (or where ever it may be on the honda, i'm not very familiar with the location of them)

You'll definitely want to do that as soon as possible, if you don't it will start building up a residue and it will take quite a while to get it to burn off the excess oil that is going back into the intake...causing it to smoke.

eDead?
c'mon. Second Skin FTW.
If you pay for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I used 40 ft^2 of Second Skin in the install on some large, flat areas (like the roof). Too much money for the amount of deadening that I did to use it throughout. I would have liked to use all Damplifier since it is a better product, but it comes down to cost.

bah need peal and seal like nick uses
Heh, I used a little bit of that too when I ran out of Edead and Damplifier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've got a few methods that ensure that it will stay adhered... but it really is just an inferior product in the end so I used as little as possible.

I'm still looking into it... may end up doing the catch can if the smoking from exaust venting would be significant. Does your experience indicate significant smoking with this method?

Although, I don't think it would be all that bad... right now I think I have as much smoke as I do since there is no cat on the car. I'm using an e-bay "high flow cat" (which is just a resonator) to mate up to the exaust from the down-pipe. That is until my 2.5" inlet / outlet cat and full 2.5" exaust system are installed on the coming weeks.

Jake, any way you can make it to the FL meet on Saturday? Last I heard from you it was a small possibility....
I want to meet you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Possibly, do you have an address so I can check out what kind of drive I'm in for?

I'd highly suggest doing it the way i told you, its alot easier, cheaper and you don't have to worry about it.

Say once a week or so you've gotta drain the oil out of the bottom out of it, depending on how much you drive the car of course.

im going to kill myself if u go jake and im still in miami.. ERRRRR..

O well i actually picked up more more more money then expected for b day and x mas eve gifts from relatives. system build has changed to jan 1 - jan 15 some time in between.

Ordering wiring tomm. along with q form kicks that will be reinforced, deadening, and box.

Mike-

You won't ever see those #'s out of a single cam Honda- the cam profile is way too mild- it just can't breathe. That turbo setup would likely work in a b16 motor though- if you pop yours you would be better off with a swap than a rebuild. Put it in perspective: The k20A3 in my civic is about 170hp at the wheels with a header, catback and intake, and a Jackson racing supercharger is good for about 50hp at the wheels (street setup) That is for a twin cam motor with half a liter more displacement than yours and far more agressive cam profiles. I'm not trying to hate, I just work on Hondas for a living and would hate to see you waste money on a motor that will never be fast- you need a b16 swap- gain displacement, VTEC, and can still use your turbo setup- 200hp should be attainable that way.
No need for a VTEC... many people have plain LS blocks and push around 300+ on stock internals, much more if it was bored out with all the right goodies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sundownz,

Nice setup, was there any particular reason you went with Greddy? Nice audio setup, all that deadening though most add a crapload of weight, but one hell of a quiet ride.

I can only imagine how quiet your ride will be, mmm.

Not to mention it should stay cooler in the summer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wanted to go with a smaller turbo, a T25 type. I also wanted a complete kit since this is my first performance build of any kind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It's my learning project, and I've learned enough now that next time I do a turbo setup I can piece it together myself. I also got a good price on the kit, $1100 brand new, so I went for it.

I'm almost done with the deadening enough that I can start putting the interior back in the car -- I already put the headliner back. I ordered my carpet last night with the added rubber mass backing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif When that gets here I'll have the expanding foam totally done and the interior will start going back in so I can start laying out the rear audio equipment area.

One more note on the build... I have decided not to re-install the rear seats and to go with 2x 15" Subwoofers. The box will be around 10 ft^3 total with adjustable tuning to ~31.5 Hz / 45 Hz for daily and SPL. It will also have the option to seal off the ports for a large, low Qtc, sealed alignment.

The daily woofers will be the same, SI Mag D2s, only they will be 15s instead of 12s as originally planned. The port swap is in place so I can drop in the Sundown SPL woofers if I want to make a pass in the lanes... although this won't be a competition winner since it will probably be in a "high" class due to no rear seats, extra batteries, etc... it'll still be loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, I'm going with Bass Race now... originally planned for Street Max 1-2, but there is a one battery limit... and I'm not limiting myself to 1 battery //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Jake, here's where the meet will be:

Sand Key Park

1060 Gulf Blvd

Clearwater, FL 33767

Like I said, would love to meet you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And you'd get to see the debut of the sweet new setup (all thanks to you)
