System Progress -- 56k watch out!

I started on the roof last night. I deadened about half of it with Second Skin Damplifier... pictures coming later of that.
I'm still slacking on the drivers door... but it'll get done.
Man youve done alot of deadner...........think Im gonna have to step it up alot in that area.

Trunk Rattle FTL:mad:

Its not gonna help that lil civic...............just upsize next time you get in it.
Then youll have a 2L instead of what you got now:laugh:

Man Im gettin thristy;)
The power from a supercharged 1.5L is enough for me, it's no 500 HP but it'll get me where I need to go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif With stock internals I'll be at around 140 WHP or so at the lowest boost setting on the supercharger.

How do you like the ED V1se^2? Did you just use a roller to apply it?

I'm looking into 100sq ft of it, compared to raamat bxt and wondering what to get. It's the same thickness and apparently in the sounddeadener showdown it held better.

I applied all of the V1SE2 so far with just my hands and the back end of my razor knife. I've done it this way in two other cars and it held fine.

I did get a free roller with my order of Damplifier and have been using it since to apply Damplifier to the roof... it would make application of other deadeners, like V1SE2, easier as well. No need for a heat gun in my experience with these butyl deadeners.

As for V1SE2 vs. Raamat I couldn't tell you first hand... but from the looks of it Raamat is roughly equivalent in thickness but the backing material looks like it is more rigid than V1SE2. This is great for big, flat panels like roofs and flat areas of doors to keep it from flexing... it is also why I used Damplifier for my roof instead of V1SE2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I got 90 ft^2 of Edead V1SE2 on price point alone. After that is used up the rest of the mat deadener in the car with be either Damplifier or Raamat due to the aforementioned backing rigidity aspect of those two vs. Edead... and at least in the case of Damplifier it is overall just flat out better 90% of the time.

this is a baddass worklog...and it's only wiring and deadening so far:)
I even skipped all of the service work I just did... new brake pads and rotors, new CV axles, new springs and shocks, new tires, and even a new fuel filter and oil change //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif That took place in between doing the front passenger door and starting the foam work. I drive ~25k miles per year so I've got to get this thing up to par to be sure it holds together long enough to take to shows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm pretty excited about actually get any sort of system in here... rolling with coaxials on a head unit isn't much fun.

You might want to check, but I don't think the JR supercharger works with the 1.5- I think it only works on th Si's 1.6 (different head by far) I think you are doomed to drive a slow azz pig- but it should sound hot.

It works on the 1.5L, I looked into it already //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

**** Jake, 25K a year?!? I'm not too far from that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Yah man... thats one reason I'm getting rid of the BMW, not to mention that the payment / insurance was nearly a mortgage payment. I drove it 26,000 miles in 13 months... not good for deprication!

Hope your not using a Pioneer deck ha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
On that note, have you shipped the damaged amplifier back to me? The address is inside the cover of the manual. I'm very interested to see exactly what that did to the insides. That is such an incredibly strange thing that happened in your car... I've never seen anything like it. Before you do anything with your system you should completely replace that RCA cable since if it had that sort of current on it, it is probably no good anymore.

I am using a JVC deck myself... I've had great luck with them ever since the very first car audio CD Deck I purchased used from a friend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've had 4 JVCs since I started doing car audio, 3 of them are still in service that I know of and the 4th went to a guy I never see anymore so it may or may not be.

I've also had one Alpine... a 9813 which is also still in service in my old car, which is now owned by my cousin... I am convinced he has spilled at least 5 gallons of soda on it judging by how the interior looks after 2 years of him driving it!

The JVC KD-AR8500 was one of the few decks that I could find that wasn't offensively ugly and bling (IMHO)... although the display is a bit much for me and I've been meaning to get around to finding a way to turn off the animations!
