Im currently running a system with an Alpine IVA W505 headunit, the PXA H100 processor (mainly for IMPRINT). I had a Bose system prior to install, and the system had a separate DVD player in the center console (the screen was centered on ceiling between driver and passenger). Prior to the install, I had steering wheel control of the source (disc changer, DVD, etc), volume, track/station, etc.
My question is this. I know that there are certain integration units that will work with my HU to give me back the steering wheel control. I also know that there are certain units that have inputs for aux devices (like the DVD player). But I never saw the way the DVD player interfaced into the stock Bose headunit, and I really want to make sure that I buy the right unit that can let me do the following:
1) Link my steering wheel controls to the headunit, including source selection
2) A) Intergrate the stock DVD player with the Alpine HU + steering wheel controls
B) Output the video from the Alpine HU to both the HU and the overhead display
I am thinking that I should keep the stock DVD player b/c of the lame safety laws requiring the car to be stopped to watch video on the Alpine unit.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated. A specific list of what I need to do this would be even more appreciated! Either way, thanks for your help.
