I used to have a RE SX in my jetta and it sounded great, but i am looking to buy another beater car and i got a great deal on a cabrio

How will a system (possibly 15 BTL) with a soft top. im assuming it wont be very loud with the top down.

i have never seen a system in a convertable or heard one.... if anyone has one or know anything about it let me know

First car, First system and I was 16 so be easy ;-)

I had a "system" in my '88 Mustang convertible. wasn't nothing too crazy, a pair of Inifinity Kappa 100.1se 10"s in a sealed box seeing about 300W each from a Crossfire amp . Sounded pretty **** good with the top up actualy but with the top down it was drasticaly different! You could still hear the bass but is kind of seemed like it was coming from someone elses car. Like a "distant" sounding bass if you get what I am saying. Out of boredom one day we just put the subs in my back seat and it sounded a LOT better with the top down but pretty shitty with the top up. At one point we put an American Bass 12" in the back seat in a ported box running on about 500W and had the inifinitys in the trunk still in the sealed box. That actualy sounded the best of everything. The 10"s in the trunk sounded really nice with the top up and when the top was down the ported 12" in the back seat would drown out the 10"s and sounded pretty nice.

We did a setup in a buddies car where we actualy ported the box around the top and into the cabin. Helped a little but he had to cut some big holes in his interior panels for the port to come through which looked pretty gay. Even still with the top down it just sounded wierd.

seriously if you have to ask this one you should not be competing
thanks for the very informative response, im not sure if you kno this but i believe the point of a forum like this is to talk with and help out other people who share the same interest. there is only one way to learn and that is to ask, and thats what i did, again thanks

SUVs you can obviously fit more subs and ultimately more cone area. Forca car you obviously don't wantva car whose trunk is completely sealed off from the cabin look into like hatchbacks such as imprezas civics integras or a car whose back seats fold down and have a big opening tonthe trunk from the cabin where the seats fold down
