First car, First system and I was 16 so be easy ;-) I had a "system" in my '88 Mustang convertible. wasn't nothing too crazy, a pair of Inifinity Kappa 100.1se 10"s in a sealed box seeing about 300W each from a Crossfire amp . Sounded pretty **** good with the top up actualy but with the top down it was drasticaly different! You could still hear the bass but is kind of seemed like it was coming from someone elses car. Like a "distant" sounding bass if you get what I am saying. Out of boredom one day we just put the subs in my back seat and it sounded a LOT better with the top down but pretty shitty with the top up. At one point we put an American Bass 12" in the back seat in a ported box running on about 500W and had the inifinitys in the trunk still in the sealed box. That actualy sounded the best of everything. The 10"s in the trunk sounded really nice with the top up and when the top was down the ported 12" in the back seat would drown out the 10"s and sounded pretty nice. We did a setup in a buddies car where we actualy ported the box around the top and into the cabin. Helped a little but he had to cut some big holes in his interior panels for the port to come through which looked pretty gay. Even still with the top down it just sounded wierd.
