System in an electric car?

Hey guys, haven't been here in awhile, but after reading

California Passes Sweeping Auto Emission Standards | Fox News

I was starting to wonder how an audio system would work in an electric car or hybrid. I bet a a pretty power hungry sub would deplete the battery pretty quickly. I don't know a lot about how cars work, but fully electric ones don't have an alt to recharge the battery right?

Anyway, if someone has some insight on the future of car audio in an electric car world that would be cool. Also, if anyone has done a system in a hybrid, how did that work out?
