system improvements

i have an alpine cda-9827 headunit and alpine type r speakers with a directed 1200d amp and a kicker l7 12" and 1 farad cap

what can i do to improve my system

i was thinking speaker amp because my speakers sound like crap at high volumes

get an amp for your front speakers bro. then they'll REALLY shine. if you haven't, do the "big 3", upgrade your alty (last resort).

ill probably get a 4 channel speaker amp

any speakers will sound like crap at high volume..

high volume=DISTORTION.

distortion=not good, can cause hearing loss, etc.

turn it down.

and also amp them as well.

no hu puts out clean power as it is, let alone at higher volumes; it just causes severe distortion/clipping

Most speakers do not sound like crap at high volume. High volume does not equal distortion. Driving components past their design limits does. Distortion does not equal hearing loss, high volume does.

About the only thing that you said that contains a shred of truth is that an amp for the front speakers would be the single biggest improvement that he could make to his system. Real power from a dedicated amp will allow his speakers to play louder without distortion as opposed to the 10% distortion that is typical for rated output on most all headunits.

i didn't say distortion WILL cause hearing damage, but it ADDS to the potential.

and usually at high volume you will get some amount of distortion, regardless (if HU running speakers; amp will put cleaner power)
