i think i'll just make a smaller box and tune around 32 and see what happens... i guess i didn't really get an answer to my question "will a smaller box decrease efficiency so that i won't hurt my sub" ???

i have a ported box, it is 6cubic feet. 16 inch heigh, 45 inch lengh, and depth 24inch. 4 cubic feet for the sub alone, then 2 cubic feet for the ported area. it is 3/4 mdf wood. and i am powering it up with a 1200.1 concept. in a mini van. with very very little sealonly on trunk door.

if its too efficient at 4 cubes why not try turning the gain down? i think turning a knob will save you a lot of time and money when compared to designing and building a brand new box that is only .5 cubes smaller...

bigger boxes are more efficient meaning less power is needed for the same output as compared to a smaller box...soooo just lower the gain to send less power...
