ok guys going to lowes tommorrow for my supplies for my box build tommorrow!

gonna be made outta 3/4 mdf. but i wanna know what brand stuff you think is best like glue, caulk, screws!!! what brand and size would you recommend for great bite but do not want to split 3/4 mdf!!

add any other things that i may have forgot money's not really a issue unless it is just ridiculous!!

thanks!

liquid nails
fail

real wood glue is pretty much the only way to go in my mind.

oh, and stay at least 2" from the edges of the box when putting in screws, and always pre drill to avoid splits //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what's the diff between titebond II AND III??? which is better

also is there a certain brand screw you would use??

and should i pre drill the holes?!?!?!? and how would i go about that??

i have built boxes before i just want to do this one right!

you dont need to predrill it is a waste of time... if you use these screws. I found thease at home depot a while back. and have never looked back.

Sprax screws made for MDF. you WILL NOT split the wood. I have never split any yet, nor had to predrill. Saves me LOTS of time

Sprax MDF/Edge Arrow Point Partial Thread Screw - specifically engineered for MDF. No pre-drilling necessary. Slender head with the ribbed underside easily countersinks into the material. Silver zinc finish. These fasteners are currently being changed by Spax from pozidrive to torx drive. The appropriate drive bit (mfg by Festool / Wiha) is included by Ultimate Garage with the sale of each box of screws.

I use 1 1/2" and never had a split. I guess 2" is more certain to not split

5/32" bit to predrill.
titebond II is fine.
x2

a countersink bit is nice to have as well.

umm IDK, I only found them at Home Depot. I tried to google them real quick but didnt find anything. They come in a green box, and the ones that I have have a hex head on them, But they supply the bit for it.

And for size I use 1 1/2" and have had no problems... and as far as glue I use titebond II as well.
