Supplements?

The whole not eating after 7 thing is a myth.

You need something in your system for when you sleep...something slow digesting, like natural peanut butter or cottage cheese is best.

If you want to lose weight, you should not eat late at night. Your talking about body building. Someone trying to lose weight wants to stay away from peanut butter.

Kenny stated he wanted to lose weight, therefore he needs to burn more calories than he takes in. No need for him to load his body of w/ slow digesting foods. When I was tryign to put on mass, it seemed like I could not consume enough food throughout the day.

I should have stated that the eating after 7:00 for me was because I was in bed by 10:30 because I would hit the gym on the way to work in the morning. If you stay up until 3:00, that's a different story. I would eat all night on the weekends when I worked out late in the day.

I agree with you on this one. Not eating a few hours before bed is a good idea for one looking to loose bodyfat and doesen't nessecarly care about retaining muscle mass. Going to bed hungry aint gonna hurt and will actually aid in loosing bodyfat a little.

Doesn't matter if you're trying to lose weight, it's advantageous to get some healthy fats and slow digesting protein in your system before you go to bed. As long as you are within your caloric intake range, it's not going to harm you whatsoever.

I'm not going to argue w/ you over something like this on the internet Mr. Savage. It would be like arguing w/ a drunk or a baby, your never going to reason w/ them. There is no reason to put something in your system a few hours before you go to bed if your trying to lose weight. If you have any type of sleep schedule, your body adjusts to it. It will atuomatically go into conserve mode and burn less calories for that reason. You do not need to put something in your stomach before bed if you have ate properly through out the day.

Some quotes:

# About halfway through the night your body runs out of muscle-building fuel and leaves you in a catabolic state. To prevent this, it's a good idea to get some protein before bed.

A better and more-affordable choice is plain old cottage cheese and/or a blend of proteins like those found in Low-Carb Grow! (Milk itself isn't a good choice however.)

I can post a billion more with research to back it up.

Yea and I can't find another billion saying the exact opposite. Everyone has there opinions. Even scientific research will "prove" two totally different results in the exact same studies. When it comes to workingout and nutrition, you will always find tons of different opinons on everthing and each one will be sworn by and "proved" one way or another.

I know you're going to find the exact thing on the other end.

But when someone compares my reasoning to that of a drunk, I take offense.

He can read those two links and come back and see if I still have the reasoning of a 3 month old baby. I'll just post more that say the exact opposite of what he's spewing.

I know were you both are coming from and you both are right IMO. But like I said, if one were to be looking to gain muscle size or strength, you bet your *** you'd be eating before bed. But if someone were to just strickly want to loose weight, like if you were obese, then I woulden't eat too much within the last few hours of bedtime. At that point, not gaining much muscle mass isen't going to hurt you if you main concern is to strickly loose as much bodyfat as possible. But the average Joe's goal, which is to Tone up and gain a little muscle, eating a little casein/slow digesting protein is must to feed your starving muscle when they are laid to rest. Which is when you grow the most.

That's exactly what I'm saying- the whole don't eat after 7pm is a myth...you'll screw with your metabolism by not eating for 3 hours, then sleeping for 8...you have nothing in your system- plus, you're having to cram the same amount of intake into even less time due to not eating after 7pm. If you wake up at 7 am...that's squeezing 5-6 meals into 12 hours.

All I'm saying that eating something with some casien and some good fats before bed WILL NOT hurt you whatsoever...it will give you something slow-digesting that your body can break down overnight.

Umm. Lets see. You're both right.

It VERY much is dependent from person to person. People have different body types, and what might not put weight on for you, just might for the next person. Its all about trial and error until you figure out how you respond to things.

If you're trying to get big, you're going to have to start scarfing down more then 5K calories a day. Of course this is spread out over 8+ meals, but thats just how it goes. That number 5k, thats for me. Others ive seen have to cram down over 8k.

As for losing weight, there are many simple approaches, however if it was as simple as we all make id sound, we'd all easily be able to drop weight. While easy for some, genetics make it harder for others. There is no 1 thing works for all approach.

Supplements ill do upto a certain point. If you're taking like 6 different kinds, id say you're taking it a bit too far IMO.

All you really need is some protein and to speed things up a bit, creatine. Other then that, the rest is excessive. They will market and sell anything, but they cant sell correct diet and hard work.
