I ran my 95 DD and my ZV4. Both subs being 18 & D2. DD recommends tuning to high for my liking, sundown was in 2 different boxes. One tuned at 30 as sundown told me. The other is 27hz. Same amp on both subs, the sundown sounded better. Plus the Sundown surround that you dislike so much get way more attention than the DD ever did. The DD is a older D motor which I'm sure the newer motors would offer it more. But based on what I have. DD sits in the closet now.

That's a 10 year old model verse the 4th version... Also if you follow DDs specs you can tune at 35-40 and play into the 20s strong.

That's a efficient sub that can use airspace to increase efficiency even more. Most subs won't hold together in that much airspace.

In all fairness that's why I said it's a older motor. I know the newer J motors are lot bigger, I was going to recone the sub but decided not to. I'd rather get a new series and do some testing later on down the road.

I wouldn't mess with it. Way outdated even with updated soft parts.

Never had a DD Z. Friends have and they are very good. Worth the cost? If you cant fit a lot cone area and you got the cash, yes. Haters say its a burp sub, that's far from the truth. They are very musical and even used in SQ cars

So far my favorite was the DD 95i, Sundown Zv3 was a close second. I'm loving my SW2508 so far. It took a clipped to hell 1500 watts for a few weeks before I found out why my amp was boosting the signal. That's impressive for a 8

Second fav the zv3? Why not the zv4? Never uses/heard them or is it something you like more in the zv3?

You can even see the surround dimpling under high excursion, tell me that does not effect its linear stroke.

Hdd is another with 40mm xmax one way. Its neither brand and beats the **** out this 9515g i got now. Just saying! Throwing some more nuts out there! Cant speak on the zv4 but im sure it gets down.

If u go on caco and go U to the sundown section. Jacob will answer all your questions about the siZe of basket and dimpling of surround. .. He might see this thread on here and I hope he does so he can explain why he made the bigger baskets to surrport the 10.75" spiders and larger OD along with it being taller to be able to surrport the amount Of throw woofer has. The new frames are needed. The zv4 is one of thee most linear woofers out There.
