Sundowns cone area?

Really starting too look at the Sundown zv4 15" or 18" however, with that huge surround does it not cut down the cone area a lot? never seen any subwoofer that has this big surround so.. it has to be a reason why no one else are doing like sundown? or is the sundown way the right way?

What are the cons and pros for these kind of woofers and why should or shouldn't i go for these kind of woofers?

Really been messing up my mind and i was curious what you guys would have too say.

The zv4 is a nasty woofer! I'd buy one without thinking twice about it.. My favorite woofers I played with so far is the zv4 and nsv3.

That's just cone area. Displacement also takes xmax into consideration.

Yeah I read it quick and thought ( and pretty sure) he was asking for cone displacement, not how much air the woofer could actually move with its stroke, since he was talking about the surround. But thanks for the lesson lol

Nope, Vas is the stiffness of the suspension, compared to a volume of air. Basically how stiff it is in liters.

Vd is peak displacement volume

They appeal to a certain crowd. Jacob is very good at marketing. He knew what his audience was looking for and he made it.

Are they any better? That's up to you. Performance wise real world. Same as anything else in the price brackets.

If you want a 2 foot tall woofer than its built for you.

Personally my ***** isn't that small.

Agree. I have a 18 ZV4 and love it.

I liked Sundown when you could get a SA cheaper than Kicker.

They have jumped $60 in a few years for what? Nothing has changed.

Inflation every year. Cost of materials goes up every year so the product cost goes up. Every company does it.
