Sundown SAZ-3000D Vs. Tru H-1

Since you already own them, why don't you install them and tell us? I hate to sound like an ***, but that will be the only surefire way to answer your questions!
I thought someone here may of used both amps so thought I would ask before I build everything for a tru setup and then end up going to sundown or the other way around. LoL

Why is this even being argued.
The Tru amp will sound better but take gobs more battery power to get the same wattage as the Sundown. Due to lower efficiency(class ab design drawback)

The Sundown will not be louder by no mean unless your incapable of powering the Tru amplifier. They are around the same wattage ratings, but Tru is underrated i know this for first hand experience with them. So i think the Tru will have it beat if you can feed its needs of course.

The Tru will sound light years better as long as your sub stage setup is setup correctly.

The Sundown will sound ok, good enough for most bass heads, but no where near good for the SQ freaks.

The Tru costs alot more than the Sundown, REMEMBER both are stable at 1 ohm loads. Someone said it wasnt but ive done it for years, no problems.

I ran 3 h1's at .75 ohm load each for 2 years without problems.(9 15's in a wall 3 per H1 amp) They are extremely underrated(as long as you have the battery power and decent input voltage)

So basically if your broke and on a budget then the sundown is for you. If you want the same amount of power or more and CAN afford the Tru and afford the extra batteries and upgrades necessary to power the Tru then your going to have a more diverse SQL sound system.

Remember that its very hard to find companies making class AB amps that put out that much power! Class D amp companies that put out that much power are a dime a dozen!
Hmmm some very good points..

voltage should not be a problem.. When all done there will be a 300amp alt, front battery upgraded, 1 batt in the rear but these will be BIG batts as big as I can get to stay in a lower class with just two batts.

I am going to run as much power front to rear as I can, maybe 3 runs of 1/0 or bigger, all grounds done upfront, 3 runs for ground in the rear.

If I go with tru it will be the SH-1 for subs, 2 X T03 150.4's for the front and rear and one has the bb upgrade so it will be used for the fronts.

I have not really set my self on a sub, I have my 15" sundown nightshade, pioner SPL 12", 2 FI BL's fully loaded, RD HW v.1 12", TC motor / XXX softparts 15" ( think this is the best sounding sub I have to be honest ).

I think I am going to do either a single 15" or 2 12" but trying to decide what would work best to give me good SQ but still hold up in bass race and bass boxing. I was thinking maybe a new RD HW v.2 SQL 15" might be good I saw one here for sale and it could take either amp, maybe a DD9515 or 2 DD3512..

Any input here on subs that would go nice with these for a SQL setup??

Having a 4kw AB is pointless when you are vibrating vehicle panels negating the purpose of SQ all together. SQ is a personal preference as one mans ears may be dirtier then the next... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You do make a couple of good points in here, but the bold section in not one of them.

By no means would i call Sundown amps a budget amp. They aren't the most expensive but sure aren't cheap BNIB.

You want to run a Structured Query Language (SQL) server in your vehicle now too.. That is a little overboard, don't you think:confused:

Sorry, but when it comes to sound systems, SQL is an imaginary term. You either build the system for Sound Quality or you build it to be a one note wonder, Sound Pressure Level, beast! If you are planning on competing in the SPL class with a SQ setup, you will more than likely lose. Likewise if you plan on competing in the SQ class with an SPL setup. But the Sundown is far cheaper than a TRU SH-1 amp meaning that it is the more affordable of the two that we are comparing, HENCE it is the budget amp of the two we are comapring.

NOW if we were comparing the 3k range of amps i DEFINATELY wouldnt say the Sundown is the most affordable amplifier for the power in that range. But it is a good amplifier non the less.

and to add to it at the end of my post i said that large Class D amplifiers are a DIME A DOZEN...BUT Large Class AB amplifiers are hard to come by.

Oh and one other good point is that the Tru doesn't draw MORE power than the SAZ it just wastes more...Polo..
Whether its being wasted or used it still draws more power than the Sundown, thats the reason for needing a bigger power supply as i stated above.

Thanks for breaking it down barney style for those who didnt get what i meant EXACTLY. I thought it didnt need to be said because its something that would be unspoken when talking about efficiency as its relatively easy to understand.

So your saying the TRU draws more amperage? I doubt that... Not to mention from the looks of it the powersupply is highly regulated for protection...

Polo.

To make this comparison you really need to pick the criteria that you're gonna base your decision on. Do you want the most reliable amplifier? Do you want the most efficient? Do you want the cheapest? Do you want the best warranty? Quit guessing and just lay out the facts.
