Sundown 1500 at .5 ohms = how much power?

I have a Sundown 1500 running two z15's (dual 2's). I'm trying to set the gains on the amp using a voltmeter, but I do not know how much clean power it puts out in .5 ohms. I've got a couple runs of 1/0 and a Datasafe HR500 battery in the back. On long extended bass notes, my voltage drops to about 11.9-12.5 volts. Does anyone know how much power it puts out, or at least a good estimate?

Thanks for your help dude, but I know it's doing more than 1500....... Anyone else????? I hate to bother Jacob with an email about something that everyone probably already knows....

be careful with your gain brah those amps shine at .5 in my opinion i cant wait to strap a pair at 1ohm in the trunk of my corolla lol and keep your voltage above 12 and just check often once your done bumping and see how warm the amp is. .5 itll get pretty warm and sometimes hot but the amps are solid as ****. and bass boost alll the way down.

At first.......I didn't know what was doing as far as amp setting go..I already knew to keep the voltage up, (extra battery, and 1/0 wire) but setting the amp is way harder than it used to be....I'll tell ya this....I had my gain about half way, my bass boost wide open, and I was blown away....by far the loudest thing I've ever heard... already blew out a guy with two L7's and a Kicker 2500 something... the top of my expedition was about to pop off....SUNDOWN ROCKS!!!! I've got a lot to learn, but I am sure glad I came across this forum before I spent all my money on Kicker, and Rockford...

Sundown's website states 1 ohm stability, wouldn't you void the warranty if you run it at .5 ohm? Most of the time the box impedance rise and the heating of the voice coil will raise the impedance of a reactive load but the amp probably won't like it if it's seeing something close to a dead short.

I don't ever run a daily amp at a lower impedance than factory specs because I don't want to worry about it. If you want more power then upgrade your batteries and alternator so you can still hold over 13.5v at full blast, good voltage and current capacity makes a big difference. You can then get the 2000D or the 3500D afterward and have the electricals for it.

****, that guy really doesnt like .5ohm.

ill tell you this rite now. your not seeing 1500w. my saz 1500's are at .5ohm and after rise they do 1000w. unless you built a **** good box that only has 2x rise. it also changes greatly with frequency so at 40hz maybe you see 1500w and at 45hz you see 1000w. only way to know is it you get a clamp meter. i got a cheap one at harbor freight a while back and it works just fine. told me the same reading as a fluke.

but if you were to keep them below 1ohm after rise they should do about 2k.

here is a bunch of testing on a saz1500.

I have a pair strapped at 1 ohm love them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif As for as how much power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Yeah I'm not a half-ohm type of guy, I'm just a street beater and I want my stuff to work at full tilt for extended period of time in 90-degree weather.

Now if you want to get dirty... get some .7 ohm dual coils and load that bish down to .33 ohm nominal.

I beat the crap out of mine and live in FL really can't get much hotter.. I have played them HARD on 2 or 3 hours trips with little short breaks and never an issue. Not one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But I would like to run a little higher daily as well if I could. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i used to run my pair .5ohm strapped. beat the hell out of them all the time. knew exactly what volume they went into protect at, kept it one below that and had my fun. voltage ****** though. these zenon boards are beastly.

No **** Sherlock, he's asking what the amp will do under perfect conditions. DEEERRRPPP

ok **** tard. i did answer his question but he also said he knows he is getting over 1500w so i was teaching him about rise incase he didnt already know. its called "helping". now go play in traffic.

He didn't ask about rise, he asked about what the amp will hypothetically put out at 0.5... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif you fail
