Subwoofers DO put out power

The heat does not do any work, thus its not power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Um. Look up the definition of "work". You mean mechanical work. The work that's happening, is that it is adding energy to the material being the voice coil, and all the material around it. Power, is defined as 1J for 1S. Every material has a specific heat, given in the measurement J/g or J/kg. This measurement says it take J to raise 1g/kg 1 degree C.

Edit: Derp, name is thermodynamics.

What the hell am I arguing this on a car audio forum though? Some people are stupid and do not get the terms, and what's the point?

Thermodynamics it does, so it is power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am not going to argue Wiki sources with you. Its semantics by mere definition but if it was truly applicable work it would not be considered loss. No one is using a sub to raise the ambient temp or their vehicle or home.

And that is real life application.

Just because it is not usable power does not mean it is not power, it most definitely is.

What's the purpose of this thread other than to confuse people?
The point is that people always jump down other people's throats when they say their sub puts out power saying an amp puts out power, not a sub when in fact the person saying the sub puts out power, even if they did say it accidentally, is more correct that the people who argue that it doesn't.

"The starting point for most thermodynamic considerations are the laws of thermodynamics, which postulate that energy can be exchanged between physical systems as heat or work"

There is your Wiki quote.

By your definition everything would be 100% efficient since it would be output the same exact power as input.

And their definition of work there is mechanical, heat transfer that raises the temp of an object is work, the VC heats the magnets, cone and steel of the driver, hence work is done over a period of time, hence it is power.

Nowhere did I say they made power. And in fact NOTHING makes power in this universe anymore, it is all energy conversions. All the energy in the universe was there from the start, it is now just converting the form that that energy takes.
You sir are retarded, much like Bose GM system from the 90's
