Subwoofers clipping and popping (no music) after new amp install.

Hey all,

I am currently trying to power two earthquake sws8xi subs (150w rms 300w max) in my 2011 3 series. I was running a jl 500/1d amp originally at 2 ohm and it sounded like shit so I bridged it to 4 ohm, the drivers side sub was getting crazy hot but sounded great.

I purchased a rockford p300x2 amp rated at 150w rms at 2 ohms, however it came in at 225w per channel rms. I hooked it up and my subs dont even play, they make this strange popping sound (im assuming this is what “clipping” is?) at volume above 1/4. They play when it is very low. Are they simply overpowered? The hell is going on?

I'm curious how you "bridged" a monoblock in the 1st place?
and... no... a P300.2 shouldn't be "overpowering" pretty much ANY pair of subs Imo.

sum ting is wong... I agree

Btw... earthquake sws8xi is a 2ohm driver I think, earthquake sws8x is 4ohm... correct me if I'm mistaken
And that ^^^^ leads to more questions...
