subwoofer mounting question

When mounting a subwoofer in a sealed box:

Do you screw the subwoofer down on top of the box carpet, or do you cut the carpet out around the the diameter of the sub and mount the subwoofer directly to the wood....

Or does it really matter?

Most people would just mount it directly on top of the carpet. If you're concerned about leaking, it should be minimal if any.

the sub + screws will surely flatten the carpet when tightened.

Carpet may actually be better depending what the back of the mounting surface of the woofer is... If it is bare basket, then carpet is better... If it has a rubber piece on the mounting part of the basket, then you may actually want to cut the carpet, although I wouldn't think it would be necessary.

as long as the sub has the rubber gasket around it it shouldnt matter wut u mount it on as long as its flat

just screw it down decently tight and ur straight

The sub in question is an Arc Audio ARC12d2. It does not have a rubber ring around the frame. It did come with some thin gasket material but I wouldnt think I would need to use that if I just mount it on top of the carpet.

HAHAHA I think that thread was down about 5 clicks lol, but sure would make for one easy install.

Mount the sub over the carpet, if you screw it down square and tight all around the carpet should act as a sealer of some sort at the very least.
