subwoofer horn design!

Here's a pic of my sub, isn't it ugly, it got left out side for a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif . I'll get more pics up soon

:edit: the box is a back loaded horn enclosure.

IMHO a true Horn is not needed in a vehicle. Unless you are a hardcore Classical music fan and you are listening to baroque music. Just go with a nice set of 12's or a single 15 in a vented enclosure, and leave the Horns to people that have Vans like Frosty (he might even be able to almost fit that folded horn that Acidburn posted.

I could fit an Imperial Horn in the back
*clears throat*

how efficient is that wicked-one horn subwoofer? What is its cut-off frequency? Is there any single subwoofer designs I could use or is horn-loading dual subwoofers much more benefitial?

Don't know exactly how efficient it is, it's enough to make the big 4 by 6 foot windows in my room flex about a 6th of an inch off of 300 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . It's cuttoff frequency is about 30 Hz. At 25 Hz it starts to free air, subsonic filters helps here so you won't destroy the sub from over excursion. As for as using just one sub, I don't see how it would make a difference, then again I don't know much about horn loaded enclosures....

I would really like this to go 20hz or lower, that is the main reason I would like to attempt a horn-loaded enclosure. I might go the wicked one for a setup in-car, but Id like a large, bone-shatteringly low horn used for HT purposes.

Is it possible to design your own horn? Any theorems you need to know?

Hey I have been interested in horns for a while now, anything from folded to spiral horns.... I fooled around and built a hybrid (best I can call it) box that is half horn half slot load. Might be something you'd be interested in as I progress with it, ive not had a chance to even put a sub in it yet, maybe will do it tomorow.

if you notice, I made the arch vent out of dowel rods and hot glue, then put fiberglass over that and resined it to make it stiff, then painted. Its not a "true" horn but its more like a bastard experiment. If you're interested i'll continue to update you on progress. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
