subwoofer for small enclosure

Conlcusion:

My dad went against my better judgement after he asked for me to shop around for him, He ended up picking out a Diamond Audio d3 woofer only thing is they sold him the wrong dvc.. his amp is wierd has more wattage at 2 ohm, not even stable at 1 ohm.. anyways the thing is beefy, can't wait to here it after we get the right one.... Should I set the gain low at first to break it in? We are getting a dvc 4ohm woofer and I dont think his amp is 8ohm stable..

edit: thanks for all the help and offers.. and special thanks to Mclerico83 for helping me out with all those listings haha. I would have loved to grab a mach 5 ixl but I never heard from them. Those rf's look beefy also, Im not a huge fan after I bought some p2's like 4 years ago..

Yeah I am, I called because my dad is less audio informative then I. I called after i checked the vc with my multi-meter. They have wait for their next shipment to come in, which is thursday

Just wire it up 2 ohm...no need for a different sub. If he is using 1 sub then a dual 4 ohm is a perfect match.

haha im not getting a different sub, switching out his d2.2 for d4.2 so I can get the most out of his amp.. Thanks for the parrllel wiring diagram though, saved me time from checking 12volt to be sure.. and that extra bit about 8 ohm.. I've read online that subs dont actually need break in points but most users on here say its necessary. If so, just keep the volume down and gain down or what?

fosgate was amazing subs, pre the chinease junk you buy today, the p series and t series are now chinease junk, the hx and he series were when fosgate was at the top and made here in america. the hx2 power is one of the best subs ever built.

I do not agree with 75% of this statement. LOL really I don't.

and how is that, diamond subs have been known not to like sealed enclosures, nice subs yet, but not a sealed enclosure.

These woofers work well in sealed enclosures but put them in a vented one and they absolutely excel

even their own website says they just work well in sealed to really put them ported

side note * pro-rabbit i got help with my amp.. and I canceled my order on the ma HK's, they were going to take like 2 weeks to get here (payment issues) but I was looking at image dynamic 6.5's, not sure on the series, they look promising but with a pretty stout cost. Btw have any of you heard diamond audio componenets? I may pick some up when I go to the horizon dealer tomorrow, thats if I can find some at 100rms and arent coaxial.

I forgot all about the amp wiring situation..sorry been side tracked lately. ***** on the HKs for the price they are great.

Image Dynamics and Diamond are both great companies and have great product.

Well they are a good price but two things were bothering me.. 1) the two weeks shipping bullshit 2) they looked sketchy.. and no reviews for them besides you.. Idk.. are coaxial sets usually of less quality than 2 way sets?

edit: no need to be sorry man, you have helped me out alot, as well as others. Plus I read the thread about your shop getting broken into and all those oreders you got behind due to power outtage..

The hx2 power is/was a great sub..not one of the best ever made by a long shot..nor was the HX series during RF's "hay day" period.
it was the end of its hay day, last good sub they made and the 3hp motor on the competition hx's are amazing
