Subwoofer Enclosure Help

I ordered a sub box from Kicker...well, it came in the mail today. I was expected an empty, sealed box but what I got was a ported, loaded one. Whoops. So yeah, I already bought two 10" Alpine Type Rs to put in a dual sealed box so my question is this:

Where is a good place to get a dual 10" sub box? (I'm not going to build my own)

and

What makes one box better than another quality-wise?

Thanks guys...I really just want to get this **** installed already. Lol

On sealed boxes it doesn't really matter who you buy it from the only thing that makes them better is if they have thicker mdf. When it comes to ported there are many factors such as port size and tuning.

SubThump -

This guy makes good stuff if you just want to buy an all out prefab enclosure. I've worked with him on a couple of projects over the years and he's straight.

All the guys I know whom make enclosures on here that i'd recommend to people don't ship. Best bet is just to find something locally if you're trying to save money.

Why don't you call kicker and complain they sent you the wrong box and get the right one?

I got the Kicker on my employee accomodation; not only do they not allow returns that were ordered that way, but it was technically my fault for not knowing EXACTLY what I was ordering. I talked to our autotechs and they thought that it was an empty box too. The heading said "SUB BOXES" and then had a size and ohms. I figured it was just empty, but i should have looked up the model number.

And yeah, I'd perfer to just get it local since I al anxious to get it installed (in fact, I had an appointment scheduled for Saturday...looks like that isnt happening).

So basically, the thicker the better when it comes to boxes?

ah I see, yea if it says ohms that means there's speakers in there but its still weird it didn't say sealed or ported.
