its much cheaper IF you already have the tools. If you have a saw and something like a router which you can cut circles with then it would be much better. Cause if you dont do well on your first one, you can always make another one with the extra mdf. If you dont have the right tools and only plan on using one box then just buy it.

dont forget about the cost for the carpet also. about $10?

i figure it would be cheaper by buying it... cost of material and carpet and such and such... and im not experience in building sub boxes i figure i just buy a cheap box.. for 35-59 bucks.. what would ya prefer Ported or bandpass enclosure?

do you even know if the SE's would work well in a bandpass enclosure? you cant just throw subs into a bandpass enclosure and expect it to sound good. I heard that bandpass closure are really complicated because the measurements need to be exact and everything.

As for the ported enclosure....it doesnt even tell you what its tuned to. My advice is to ask/buy plans from jmac for a few bucks and build that shit yourself. it will probably cost more and be a little more complicated but you'll have the experience to make better ones next time and know that you did it yourself. good luck man

My thoughts on a box that costs you $60 is going to be a piece of shit. I'd build it myself if i were you. Rent the tools or borrow them. Need 1 drill and a jigsaw basically. Have homedepot or lowes cut it for you.

Band pass boxes have a narrow peak of performance and usually sound the best when played with in these freqs. The ported box will reproduce anything at or about the tuning freq. The band pass, more than likely, will be louder but the ported will have better SQ.

well this is my first time in posting for a long time..

home depot can do your cuts.. also as for the router/jig saw.. maybe they rent this tool too? or you can always buy & return ^_^
