Subwoofer/Amp Question

Hello,

I have a Rockford Fosgate 1051S Power Amp (1050 watt 2 channel) and am currently looking for a pair of 12' subwoofers. Previously, I was running 2 RF Punch HX2 12's with this amp, but because of a buddy who wired my subs wrong a few years back, one of the subs blew. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what subs I should by to get the most out of this amp.

Thanks

The more I research, the more I think a newer model of the RF Punch HX2 12's would fit this amp perfectly. Any ideas? Each subs runs 500 watt rms or 1000 watts max. The 1051s amp supports 1050 watts. I was thinking of maybe finding some that run at 750 watts RMS but I think they might have too much power for this amp.

you sound confused, your amp puts out 1050... not suports it...

your subs won't be too powerfull for your amp, your amp won't be powerfull enough to push your subs to everything they can handle

the amp is what makes the power, the sub is what releases it....

so if you have an amp creating 2000 watts of power you need a sub that has the capacity to release 2000 watts of power, or 2 as long as the resistance of the speakers permitts

i'd go here and read up for a while....

Thanks for the link. I do understand the basics, my syntax was just incorrect in my last post. However, it did provide additional quality information that I had no idea bout. I was big into car audio back in high school (late 90's to 2001) and have been out of the game for awhile. I currently have a sealed box that my friend and I built back in the day. My plan was to get 2 new 12's to replace the 2 I have now. Considering the amplifier has already been installed, I'm thinking my only step is to reconnect the wires to my head unit (they were unplugged when one of my subs blew) and remove my old subwoofers and replace them in the sealed box I have in my trunk. I would like to not pay a bunch of money to have a car audio facility do something this simple. My problem is that I don't think I know how to properly wire the subs. Any links on information for this?

Basically what you are saying is that I'm looking at buying subs that are too powerful for my amp. I guess I'm going to get some RF P3's, which are the newer model of my older subs. I think they should provide what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks
