Subwofer help needed

Ok, I picked up a new/used subover the weekend. Once installed I ran across a problem. The subs sounds distorted when playing, but if you place alittle pressure on the cone (slightly holding it) the sub sounds normal. I'm not sure what the problem might be. I do not want to blame the seller just yet, because this might be an enclosure issue. The sub sub should work with a box from .5-1.25 cuft. Basicly without the pressure the sub seems to have zero control and the box is perfectly sealed. Any suggestions????

I would say low quality amp/sub/both, or you're giving it too much power.

Emo = Nickname not lifestyle

Sub is rated at 300w was receiving maybe 200w. So I do not believe that is the problem. Amp has been working without any issue for a couple yrs I do not think its that amp. Any more suggestions??

Gains on the amp set wrong? Bass boost too high? Something set wrong on the HU?

look at the tinsel leads are they still connected?? i had the same problem before and thats what it was
