Subs work w/ radio, but not cd

Are you certain that the amp is powered on when the head unit is in CD mode?

My first guess would be that you've connected the remote turn-on input on your amplifier to the power antenna output on your head unit rather than the remote accessory activation output. On many head units the antenna output only carries current when in tuner mode and and in any other mode it's a dead lead.

Just my first guess given the information you've provided....

he says he still gets power to the amps so it can't be the remote wire. maybe the SLA on the headunit is turned down all the way and you just can't here it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Is it only Pioneer that has that function or are there others? Just curious as the OP hasn't told us anything about his actual equipment outside of the issue he's looking for help with.

its gotta be the remote then, cus everything else is double checked, i'll let u know, i just gotta try n get the dash unit out now, its a ford and its got that security thing where you need 4 prongs to pop the dash out, you just cant win.

i had the deck installed by best buy, and they had already connected the antenna wire, there were only 2 left, a dark blue, and i light blue, i tryed both, the light blue didnt do anything. The dark blue gives me the sound for the tuner. I double checked the amp, and it has power when the cd plays... so i dont think its the remote at all. the cd player is a sony cdx-f7710, maybe theres something different i need to check?

It's either the deck isn't putting out any signal when in CD mode, or the remote isn't active. Do any of the lights on the amp change at all when you switch from CD to radio? Did you try jumping the remote terminal at the amp to its power terminal with a piece of wire?

You could check the preout signal using another amp. Some portable radio/tape/cd boomboxes have an aux input that you could hook your RCA's into (using an adapter). That'd tell you if the HU has issues.

take the deck out and read the label/sticker that is on the deck. it will tell you which color wire is what. look for the REMOTE TURN-ON LEAD or something very similar to that. what color is it? if it is BLue with a White stripe then confirm that the blue with white stripe wire is connected to the remote terminal on the amp. if this is CONFIRMED and VERIFIED to be correct, then you my friend, are shit out of luck. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'm also certain you don't have the remote wire hooked up. i cant think of any other reason your sub will perform when playing FM/AM but not CD. i doubt anyone else can either.

EDIT: if the above fails try this: get a little piece of wire and connect the positive (+) terminal on the amp to the REMOTE terminal and play a CD. it should work. if not, the head unit is not putting out a signal through the pre-outs which would mean you have one fact up deck.
