Subs Popping

I hooked up 2 PB 2xl's on a us amps 4000d and a boss indash dvd player. it played fine for 2 days but now when i turn the volume up the subs pop and the protection kicks on. An idea what it could be?

i thought they could be popped but they sound fine when the are at low volume

I'd say they are wired wrong to the amp if they play fine at a lower volume.

yeah the subs might be wired to a low impedance.

i just up a brand new 2xl with one of the old ones and it is doing the same thing. Do you think it could be the terminal block on the box?

Do you have the electrical to back up the 4000d? If the sound is not the subs bottoming out it does sound like it could be the wrong ohm load or perhaps the amp has killed the battery you are using.

the strereo is in a 2000 durango,I am running 2 batteries, duralast in front and a kinetic hc2400 in the rear. 0 guage power to the battery and 4 guage from the battery to the amp. i also have a 1600 watt us amps running my highs. I am wondering if it could have anything to do with my ground since it is only 4 guage to the battery,and 8 guage to the amps.

did i read that wrong???? u say u only have 8awg grounds to ur amps. WOW

thats a ton of current needed there for those amps and at 1 ohm. no wonder why

yeh but it played fine at first it didnt start doing until after i ran a seperate set of rca's for my 1600 watt amp.could it have anything to do with the head unit?

ok i got 0 awg ground, should i run it from my front battery to the rear or just run it to from the rear battery to chassis?

You should be using the same gauge for your grounds as your power. If you have 4 gauge power, use 4 gauge grounds.
