Ok i have 2 C2 threatcon 2s on a vfl 4480 set to 1200 watts in a 4 cube box, tuned at 32, with 16 sq in of port area. On 50hz, 40hz, 35hz, and 30hz test tones, from realm of excursion, the subs are pretty loud, compared to what im used to, and move a good bit of air. On music they are no where close to what they are on the test tones. Even on bass boosted music they dont do much. Any ideas as to why this is?

you are using 0db tones. Music is typically recorded at MUCH lower volumes. Bass like drums are typically recorded at the highest being 0db to about -6db, which is 4x softer. Synthesized bass lines in rap music for example is recorded almost exclusively at between -9 to -6db. Rarely do they ever record tracks bass lines at -3db, and from my experience, NEVER above -3db.

So if you have the amp tuned to the HU to pull 1200wrms with a 0db tone, musically you're only pulling 300-600wrms.

You can make some on Audacity, but it's a bit tricky.

The amplitude goes from 0 to 1. There is no decibels in the generation of a tone but you can change the waveform to "waveform DB" under "audio track" on the left side of the track. From my experience, 0.5 is -6db and 0.7 is -3db when in the generating menu.

I would recommend a -3db tone for tuning.

I have trueaudio RTA software which has a tone generator and you can adjust the wave amplitude,

just an idea if you feel like spending more money lol. You would need other equipment also like a calibrated mic and audio interface for your laptop
