Subs don't play as loud as they should

Was it mounted pretty good? Like were the bolts really tight to keep it from rattling? Cuz my buddy had his amp mounted the same way in his suv and the screws worked loose eventually and he didn't think to tighten em and he blew his amp like that. But if its not even shaking your mirror I doubt its shaking your floor so that's prolly not it..... Sorry had this typed up and forgot to click post. Haha
I think the bolts came loose and it moved around just from driving. The amp isn't fried so that's good but I haven't heard exactly what needs to be fixed or replaced yet

If its not somewhere well ventilated or where it can get rid of that hot air, get a computer fan or two, (like 5-10$ on amazon) and put that under your amp on your amp rack. Just keep the back of the fan clear so it can move air well. Like obviously don't just screw it down to a sheet of mdf where it won't be able to pull through any air. Will keep it waaayyyy cooler so you'll never have to worry bout heat and they dont cost much or take much electricity.
Ya I was actually thinking about buying one anyway just to be safe . I think radio shack has them for pretty cheap so I will go check it out.

I know these 8s aren't going to be super loud or anything but from what I have seen they should still put out some good bass. Way more than they have been I think
Alpines have a bass setting that isn't bass boost but rather just a sub control I think it ranges 1-16 anyway I would turn that all the way up it doesn't cause clipping it just raises the output voltage of the headunit you will need to reset the gain but it should get louder. Make sure the subs are in phase and not moving opposite each other, and set your subsonic filter to like 35hz you are risking damage to the subs during low note with a box tuned that high. I would tune the box lower but that wouldn't make it louder yes it would help shake things in the car but that's just cause its further below cabin resonance frequency.

Ya my hu does have sub control on it but I wasn't sure I should use it or not so I will give it a try. Thanks

My clarion has the sub control as well runs 0-14.....might have to try that when I tune my sub this week. I always thought you were supposed to zero everything out prior to tuning gain....

Depends on the deck my cda-117 wouldn't put out any voltage at zero because it was cutting the voltage to nill but turned up I got my full 3.9v it had bass boost too but I didn't use it or the low end of the eq either.

I do have bass boost settings but I don't use them either.... I could definitely see this help me keep my gain lower. Good tip.

My deck only has 2 volt pre outs is there anything else I could do to get higher output from that deck ?
